PSU wanting to build a new stadium

As you probably know the Viks have been pushed out of Providence park and have to play in Hillsboro but want to build their own -- well at least share a new stadium. Across the street from Providence Park is Lincoln High School and it is receiving a major renovation. PSU want to throw in on a renovation to the football field that would yield an 8,000 seat stadium, kind of modeled after a high school stadium in Texas. It would be great for them for all games except when the Griz come to town. They still need to find a sugar daddy to donate a big chunk of change, like the better part of $65M...

I wonder why they don't build where their practice field is currently located? If they're only thinking 8K or so, that site, located right next to the Stott Center would seem to fit the bill...

I would guess that this makes a lot of sense for them from the funding perspective. I think their football program was nearly on the chopping block when coach Barnum took over, I doubt its in much better standing now.

I'm sure its a lot more palatable to share the costs than to come up with the money to build out a new stadium.

That Lincoln High stadium is actually pretty cool, and would fit the urban campus environment. Its served well by public transit, etc. Anything has got to be better than the Hillsboro stadium.
