Post Game: The last easy win

They need to figure out how to "offense" in both halves of the game because you can't count on the defense scoring a couple of times, every time out.

Good thing is, we got a Cali team coming and it snowed so keep it cold in Missoula and that will help. I like our chances against our remaining opponents. MSU finally got the reality check they needed to come off their high horse. Not saying their spirit is broken but it’s been gut punched for sure. Griz control their own destiny now. It’s a race to the finish line. November is gonna be butt puckering.

Forecast right now is 50 degrees and rain.

Sometimes a reality check helps get a team right - that NAU loss so far has for the Griz

50 degrees is still cold for Californians. And probably true, but the cats have been playing at the same level all season, and the Griz have improved 10 fold since NAU. And that leaves to question, where can the cats improve? BCN would have you believe its play calling. They have been playing too many cupcakes just like the griz did last year and it bit them.

Bottom line, we have a tough few games ahead and PSU is not gonna be a push over game. But I like our odds.

- I'll add in on the Ah Yat hype train. Kid looked real good, nice poise, found gaps in the UNC zone, good throws too. Something I've not seen from a freshman QB since Jordan Johnson. Now JJ had a year to develop and then was given the keys - Ah Yat yesterday was seemingly given some great reps/time to see how he does in a live game. I'm really excited for the future with this young man.

Didn't we have a freshman quarterback that looked pretty good and was nominated for the Jerry Rice Award? Gresch Jensen

The lesson here is not to overhype a player after less than half a game. He may be good, but I'm amazed at the pedastal people are putting him on. As I said in another thread, its not fair to him.

Jensen who looked great in numerous games never lived up to that expectation.

Maybe, but knowing he was coached by his dad, I think he has a pretty good feel for the game. Given the average/sub-par passer McDowell is, he could be what the Griz need to move the ball down the field.

Would have helped immensely if he had any sort of decent coaching.

Gresch Jensen was legit. He had the misfortune of enduring a coaching change, and the new coaches brought in their guy, who was also a great player in sneed. Prior to that Gresch was an excellent QB

"Health" no details provided. I think the Ramos / Glasgow substitution was partly due to the kickoff kick out of bounds, and missed field goal kicks.

Bobby addresses no. 61 in his post game interview. He wasn’t available because of …. I couldn’t hear the key word.
I watched Glasgow walk up the tunnel with a trainer early 3rd qrt.

That was also mentioned during the broadcast.

After that he wasn't, even when he followed his coach.

He had an entirely new system down in Texas though correct? Or was stitt hired as their offensive coordinator? Either way, entirely new Oline to him and just a little time to get on the same page with his receivers may have influenced his play. Confidence may also have been shaken. All variables that matter

Not to mention Texas State was an absolute shit show when he went there. They’ve since hired UIW’s previous coach and are much better.

For some people who are having a hard time pronouncing Keali'i Ah Yat's name. If you go to the Griz football site and click on the roster, next to each players name is a symbol of an 👂. Click on it and you will hear each player say their own name. So if you have a hard time pronouncing any of the players names you can find it there. On another note, did anyone watch the press conference yesterday? The reporter asked Junior what is it like working with both McDowell and Ah Yat. And Bobby imma interrupted and wouldn't let Junior answer the question and said if the question is about the QBs then it should be directed at me. Just thought that was kind of odd

It didn't strike me as anything but protective of Junior. That kind of question puts him - or any receiver- in an uncomfortable spot. My guess is that Bergen might have said something like . . . they are both great. But then there would have been a follow-up.Some reporters are always looking for drama or controversy.

Tidbits.

When a question was asked of the perpetrator of the penalty when the UNC qb was down, the answer was, after looking at the number of kids standing close by, I better not say what was said. My impression was that it wasn't a big deal and wasn't something that needed to be called. The refs seemed to have a Griz bias.

McDowell's mom was up from Houston for the game. Very nice woman. I talked to her for 10 minutes while she was waiting for her son. She's atteneded a number of games. They love Missoula, the team and the people. The whole family does. Clifton is serious about trying to help the team win a national championship, she says. I met Cliff briefly too. Big kid.

Regarding the long incomplete pass down the UNC sideline going south, I said to Cotton that I saw the pass was probably long and was saying to myself that he should avoid touching the receiver (he was right with him). He said that he knew it was likely long, so was careful.

Ah Yat was getting alot of "nice jobs" from his teammates on the field after game. The guy, with seats next to us who played qb with Ay Yat, said if the son is half as good as his dad, he will be a great player.

The coach of the MSU dance team was our server at a good restaurant in Bozeman last night. Former MSU and Billings West dancer. Super nice. She said the MSU dance team has improved considerably in recent years. It didn't sound like MSU put many resources towards the cheer or dance teams. Said the UM dance team is very good and has been for awhile.

I asked my Bozeman brother what he thought of the Cat loss. He said: "I told you last week that the Cats were pretty good, but not nearly as good as some Cat fans were saying."

We saw a funny billboard on our way to Big Sky. 2 people running and a moose chasing after them: "A moose can run 35mph, can you?"
