I’m not sure how RanRod survived the evening. He’s lucky they need some extra bodies along the D-line or I think Hauck might have just eaten him. That was a spectacular fake.

I missed that play, what exactly happened on it to make his nibs so pissed off? Thanks man :thumb:

He false started, but we were running a fake punt, execution was perfect (minus the false start) Looked like we possibly could have scored.

I agree. Our runner was going to get first down easily and there was a pitch man in perfect position.

You know what disturbed me most about yesterdays game? It was so unHaucklike. I mean a lot of the shit that went down. Seemed so undisciplined. I could see this happening more in a first game but we had one under our belt and Drake didn't....AND they were playing in WGS. We were seriously sitting there going did that just happen? Did that just happen again?

I guess if there is an upside there is some things that should be correctable with a good ass chewing and couple runs to The M.

The downside is some of the other things are a much harder fix.
I think you're misremembering a bit of the old Hauck games with a tint of maroon-colored glasses. Early in 2008 comes to mind when they almost lost to a bad UC Davis team and a D2 both at home.

I think a lot of what we see is just bad habits holding over from the last (few?) staff(s), and it's gonna take some time to fix it completely.

The game was extremely sloppy, but we can still clean it up, like you said. I'm honestly hoping we don't have a half like that first one again, but I'll be really glad if it only happens against a team like Drake.

My view is that the Griz shot themselves in the foot 12 or 15 times. Multiple penalties stopping drives. Also, reversing an interception and some longer returns (or at least one). A roughing passer giving Drake a first down when we'd stopped them. A mistake/penalty on our fake punt negating a first down, and maybe a TD. An apparent mistake on our failure to defend their fake punt.

Lots of smaller and correctable mistakes. Griz didn't give up long plays again this game, except fake punt. Not many huge mistakes by UM. And when there were some, like the partially blocked punt, the D held.

I was disappointed we didn't play better and made so many mistakes, but I like that we're not making a bunch of huge mistakes, including giving up big plays and turning the ball over in bad spots. I like the D. I like the kick coverage. I like our returns, and those can be better. I love Sneed. Guys like Olson and JLM are really stepping it up. Receivers are starting to step up, not have many drops, and make more plays. O-line play and injuries a concern.

+1, sadly.

How much of the o line played much last season for Stitt and what were the expectations by Stitt on what his o line would be like this year if he had stayed. I don’t have the history/knowledge to try and analyize the o line play Stitt inherited and did he raise the level of their play by his recruiting better players and his coaching, and what did Hauck get from Stitt as compared to what Stitt got from Delaney? Anybody wanna take a shot at broad discussion to help educate me on the overview of the o line problem. Thanks man :thumb:

Now, I am not a lip reader, but Hauck was seriously pissed and was up in Randy's face when he came to the sidelines. I'm sure I saw, at a minimum, 3 F-words.

Since run first is not working I think it is time we focus on Pass Pass Pass to set up the run, quick hitters at first & then go down field. Should I say go back to 1994, 1995, 1996. Of course the O-line is going to have to improve no matter what we do! I think they will! Go Griz!
The '94 and '95 OLs were the best Montana has ever had. Not a strength we can leverage right now.

I don’t think anyone would have laid a glove on him he was rolling along like a locomotive.

It was a beautiful play.

Absolutely! No wonder Bobbie was so pissed. But about the only good that came out of that play was ... it is now on record, and future opponents will have to at least think about/plan for the possibility of it being called again.

Better than 2000 and 2001?

I think 94/95 and 00/01 can't be compared easily. Neither would have probably been as good as the other running the offense they had. I think Bobby wants an 00/01 but doesn't have it so is trying to use more of a 94/95 scheme to try and dance with the date he currently has. Problem is this line is not in same hemisphere as that line.

I was just about to ask the same question. Mid 2000s had a few great offensive lines too!
