Post Game: Now Introducing...

A lot of guys touched the ball Saturday night. Warren, Saylor, Henderson, Wolcott, Jones, Haynes, Naccarato is a deep WR core that will benefit with JJ pulling that trigger. Henderson will most likely draw doubles he seems to get behind everyone. Which will make for a field day on under routes.

JJ connecting to 10 different receivers is a game changer! How do you game plan against that? Even FB Wilson had a reception out of the backfield. Henderson and Jones are going to be tough to cover, allowing the other 8 recievers to be open. I can't wait for all the mix and match combos this season, along with play action!
This is always a great thing. Not only does it give the opposing DC headaches, but it keeps the receivers (including the backs) on their toes. They know they could see the ball coming their way on just about any passing play.

One player that reminded me of the past was Cam Warren. Matt Wells came to mind as Cam worked his tail off trying to block someone, had 2 catches for 35 yards and showed no fear over the middle. Maybe it is his size and quickness but he sure brought up pleasant memories from the past.

I really liked what I witnessed Saturday Night. This is championship level defensive talent & depth. Front seven helps the secondary tremendously. With QB pressure. Not many teams will match up like Appy States OL.

JJ is everything advertised however, I want to see TmcK get some reps early as well to ensure he is ready when necessary. SSH in this offense could be a very serviceable back-up Q in the new system as well.

WRs will only get better with game experience. Same rings true with the return game. Not a lot of experience there but loads of talent in both areas.

Kicking game looked solid with the exception of the blocked PAT by them but we returned the favor. Ball Control, Special teams & great Defense wins championships. May all the players stay healthy & prepared throughout the entire season.

Great play selection on offense. Vast improvement over last season. K'Fense appeared to be in mid-season form. Very impressive.

The marathon has begun.

This reminded me of something. Did anyone else have a problem with still having JJ, Van, Canada, etc., in the game with 3-4 minutes remaining? would have hated to see a serious injury in garbage time, and would have been a good time to get T-Mac and other backups some good PT so they're not cold if they have to come in for an injury at some point this year...

Right now, I understand the coaches thinking. This offensive personnel, need as many reps as possible to build continuity, and give teams more to look at on film. They can still refine timing, blocking schemes, and the little nuances of the offense. The more reps will also help in adding to the playbook later. Mick is leaving no room for error, and tweaking this offense as bit by bit. Also, JJ was not getting touched. It made sense to leave those guys in for the reps. Now if they were getting to our key players consistently, or have it happen later in the season, then I'd question this.

Jones had the most receptions with 6. The next most was 3 by Henderson, who lead with most yards because of his 55 yard bomb reception.

These two are big-time WRs. The whole corps looks improved this year. (Part of that is due to JJ, the other part is due to another year of work)

Henderson and Jones will be in the record books by the time they exhaust their eligibility.

I made this comment thinking forward. If we make the improvements that football teams normally do in week 2 & 3, plenty of guys should play & the coaches could build some depth at the positions that they think need it most.

I am definitely against thinking too far ahead but I have seen UND video. I saw a few things to make sure we are ready for but to be honest, I wasn't tremendously impressed. Griz play at the Appy level & I think you can book a win.

Which leads to OK Panhandle & they got smoked liked a christmas ham vs LAMAR 75-0.
As I said...I made that comment thinking forward. We need to be at full strength week 4 in Flagstaff & ready for anything the Jacks want to throw in order to send a message to the rest of the BSC.

Well with the exception of the 'scats (whom I don't think are capable of rational thought), that message was probably sent special delivery with our beatdown of the Mountaineers this past weekend. 8-) 8-)

Thanks as always for the wright up Brint. Defense looked amazing last night. I was glad to see Tripp was up and moving after getting twisted up. The running game looks beastly. Can't wait to watch this team grow this season. Bring on ND!
Wright on!
