Stepping back, looking at the bigger picture:

Yes, this was great for the Bobs. But also great for all of FCS football. TV is the Almighty Money God of Collegiate Athletics and this game elevated the major FCS programs, including us. Look for more national exposure in the future, especially for the two Montana teams. A rising tide lifts all boats.

How many times was the Brawl of the Wild brought up? And the Griz--or Grizzlies? We got plenty of good pub last night.

Maybe the biggest beneficiaries were the announcers, Brock Osweiler and Dave Flemming. Osweiler is smooth, articulate, and knowledgeable. Flemming has been a rising star for a few years now. Expect to see this team on more national telecasts. And as we learned from Brent Musburger, it never hurts to have a national announcer with full knowledge of Montana football.

The Montana kids. They showed out! Very proud of them no matter the uniform. Yet another reason to recruit more of them: They're less likely to go into the portal.

Looking at even bigger picture, I really liked the Redbird team and Coach Spack. QB Tommy Rittenhouse said post game he doesn't have plans after this year. I'd like to see him involved with Griz program-learning recruitment and coaching principles: something tells me he wouldn't mind trying to beat the Cats again. His achievement on the field and in the conference-while lowkey managing Type I Insulin Dependent diabetes- is awe inspiring. His coach said it best: "There's no quit in the kid."

I liked Rittenhouse. And his coach totally let him down by not letting him go for it on fourth and one. This was the kid who fueled the comeback, reading the defense, changing calls at the line of scrimmage, and slinging precise passes all over the field.

And his coach instead trusts an obviously nervous inept kicker. I'd be furious if I were Rittenhouse. He'll live with his coach's mistake the rest of his life.

I have always thought Brock Osweiler was more of a Griz fan than a Cats fan. His dad had a scholarship offer to play for the Griz but entered the military instead, Brock grew up in Kalispell which is western Montana and his brother Tanner lived in Missoula for like 10 years.
He's said in interviews he grew up a Griz fan, and when he got the offer from UM, he seriously considered it over his FBS offers for a short time before deciding to chase the FBS dream, instead.

Man it sure sounded like he was absolutely a Bubs fan during the playoff game.

Brock's family are Griz fans.
