And some fans are really celebrating this?! This is participation trophy status. What a truly sad state of affairs for a once proud program.

I personally do not think we deserve to be in the payoffs. However, I am celebrating this because it is one last chance for our seniors to prove to themselves and all the doubters that they do/did belong in the playoffs. I am celebrating for their chance to end this season on a high note. Prove you belong. Prove you are better than you have looked yesterday. I hope they do.

Go Griz!

Go Griz!

I feel you on our seniors getting another shot. That said, yesterday we did not look like a team that is highly invested in winning.

Overall, the fact that we are in the playoffs at all says everything about the state of FCS football.

The issue is the amount of good teams in the fcs. The reality is that there’s really not 24. It feels like we shouldn’t be in. But there certainly aren’t 24 teams better than we are.

I’m excited for these guys to get one more shot. The talent is all there. Maybe they get one last run.

This playoff appearance is the definition of putting lipstick on a pig. The fact that there aren't enough good teams to fill a playoff bracket is a damning indictment of FCS football.

What makes you think the talent is there? If this season has proven anything, it's that our talent is no longer superior to most other teams. Teams that do well in the playoffs almost always have an at least above average OL. Our has not proven to be even average.

Everyone thought we were world beaters the first 5 games. Back when we actually put the ball in our playmakers hands.

Griz are without a doubt one of the top 24 teams in FCS. Yesterday was a tough loss and I didn't think Griz would make it in. Now we are in. Go play loose, have fun and see what happens.

I didn't think you would make it in either, but you did. Now, make the most of it. Your big fan base has allowed you to get the home game and that is big. This is almost like a do over for your team.

Good luck to you guys and see you down the road.

It all comes down to when things start to click. NDSU was an at large bid in 2010 and was, in my opinion, a bad call away from the chipper. The talent is there, it’s just whether or not the coaching staff has the ability to bring it out.

i agree. fcs has been depleted of most of it's top teams over the last several years. i keep reading that the bsc is stronger than it was 10 - 15 years ago, but, at least for me, that claim doesn't pass the eye test when you watch the teams that are left.

I enjoy watching the Griz play, doesn't matter who or when. So celebrating?, maybe not, but happy to watch them play.

This: The Marshalls, Appy State, JMU teams made it meaningful. Seems like the FCS feels diluted with teams never in the bracket before.

Gave us what the refs took from us in the Sacramento State game, 8 wins.

I think you're dead on. The FCS selection committee looks outside the lines.

Plus Haslam was packing a handgun during the meetings, that may have helped as well.

People are ridiculous...we should've beaten suck state, lost by 3 to Weber with an abysmal offensive performance, but because the scats murdered us we are now not a playoff team??? It's the FCS, of course we deserve to be in the playoffs, and could easily beat 1/3 of the field, including some at-large teams. It was a down year, everyone has those, but we get one more home game to prove we belong, and who knows, we might go in to that stupid dome and upset a down bizun team.

Good post. I think we could beat 2/3 of the teams, if we have our healthy no. 1 qb.
