Playoff Seeding

There are several factors that play into the Grizzlies hands if, I mean when they defeat the Cats. The committee will see that the Griz played without there starting QB early in the year. They will also note that the Griz may very well being playing better than an other team at this point in the season. The only factor that would keep the Griz from the top 4 would be how much weight they put on the NDSU loss, but also realizing that the loss was endured without the starting QB. There are many other factors that lean in the favor of the Griz.

I honestly don't think they should award a team just because they're hot at the end of the year. Injuries do play a factor however. It worked against U. of Cincinnati a few years ago in basketball when they were #1 in America. Then Kenyon Martin got hurt in the C-USA Tournament and had to sit, so they gave Cincinnati a much lower seed in the NCAA Tournament than they would have received without his injury.

Cincy went from a 1 seed to a two seed. Using the term "Much lower" is a little dramatic. Bottom line is Cincy sucked that year without Martin. They squeeked by in the first round and got bounced in the second. They basically lost two of their last three. THey shouldn't have been a number one seed without martin. I guess this is a little of topic, but there is no way cincy should have gotten a number 1 seed without winning thier tournament without thier stud. Sorry for getting of topic.

This committee did just that last year with Georgia Southern. They started the season 1-2. Then they slaughtered everyone at the end of the season just like we are doing. I think they got the #2 seed.

They got rewarded because they got hot.

Selection criteria seems to indicate that the committee will select the 4 best teams available at selection time. A case could be easily made that we are the best team in the country right now.

But we have to win Saturday!

Actually GSU was #3 last year and WIU was #2......but point still valid. And I think they should weigh how a team is playing at the end.

Reguardless......we will have the tougher side of the bracket. No cream puff Southland team to play in the first round unless Nicholls can pull off the big upset this weekend. Which would help the Griz in atleast three ways I can think of!

If McTeam wins......we will be playing a lot of those tough Gateway conference teams.....and after watching WIU play here at Death Valley, I can tell you....at that time, they were awesome for a 1-AA team. I can't believe they got beat 3 times this year, and wonder what happened there. But they were way better than Arizona, LaTech, or Miss.ST...... so I am sure that the Gateway must be solid.....

You're right that we'll play a Gateway team. With four of them likely in the field this year, the committee needs someplace to stick them. I'm hoping for Western Kentucky in a battle between the last two National Champs, but we'll probably get Western Illinois just because they're slightly closer.
