Playing WSU for a second time

To my knowledge UM had to play WSU again in the playoffs in 2019. Last game was at their place while MSU gets them at Home twice. (If that’s how it shakes out). How was playing them for a second time? Did they scheme well? I heard Sneed had one of his worst performances ever. Curious what you all think. Hard to beat a team twice, however, we won’t give up two ST touchdowns and they won’t give up 4 safeties. MSU was without 3 OL, QB Chambers, RB Sumner, SS Ortt at safety, Clevan at slot and Coy steel a prolific special teams helper and amazing blocker in the slot. I think we are bringing a better team this time around but they will have a better idea of our run game.

They won 17-10 in a sleet/rain fest in Ogden. They did change their defense some and really mixed coverages forcing Sneed to throw 5 picks. Griz also had a punt blocked for a touchdown and that ended up being the difference. They also shut down our run game completely. I would expect them to load the box a little heavier with how good they are in the secondary. I think it will be close again but I also think Weber may struggle slowing the run down. Forcing Tommy to throw will be key, but expect some new looks from the defense, this isn't Jay Hill's first rodeo.

Sneed was playing on one leg.

It’s always really hard to beat a team twice in one season when you’re evenly matched because the losing team in general has more things they can work from to correct. I don’t imagine MSU is gonna change their game plan all that much from what worked in the first game, but Weber gets to go back and try to counter it. In 2019, they worked out an awesome scheme against us to force Dalton into bad decisions, and even though we were probably the more talented team, we couldn’t overcome those mistakes. In 2008, after we got lit up in Ogden, we changed our approach and slowed the game way down. Cal Poly made awesome adjustments to stop our run game when we rematched in 2005.

You guys are rolling, though, so you might just stomp them. I don’t know.

Wow that’s right, 6 turnovers and it was still 17-10. That’s a frustrating game I can imagine. I think UND dropped the ball with their bid like they did in 2019. They are a different team at home than on the road. Still glad we will be watching from afar this round. Saturday was full of collisions.

We also faced Eastern Washington at their place last year and got beat and then got to host them and take it to them. I do agree it is hard to beat a good team twice especially one that you’re very familiar with. North Dakota is no slouch and might surprise Weber though so that could be interesting

Biggest difference is Weber's offense is better than it was in 2019. And is far more explosive if given the chance.

Jay Hill has lost 2 conf games only to turn around and get revenge in the rematch later those years. Happend @ Southern Utah as well.

Honestly I had hoped Weber would get another shot at MSU, just not this early.

But Weber has to get by North Dakota first. There has been some interesting games between the two over the years.

I went into the belly of the beast on Saturday and witnessed the seance firsthand. It takes place in a tailgate just outside the NxNExN RFS stadia.

Each home game, those sickos put a voodoo hex on a poor, unfortunate soul on the opposing team. There’s an amulet, the doll, a dead chicken, and much more.

For some reason, long snappers are the most susceptible to the vexing jinx ceremony. I asked the witch doctor and this is what he said, it’s true, and he went on and on about the ghost of so-and-so, some famous snapper from MSC with whom they commune.

Bottom line, if dweeber wants a chance, they will need to wrap their long snapper with extra magic underwear to cancel out the voodoo hex.

Weber had our passing game well scouted for the playoff game. With the bad weather and once they realized Sneed was compromised, they continuously jumped his routes and took advantage of the lower velocity of his throws. 5 ints and we lost by a TD afer beating them handily earlier.

Their best adjustment might be with their long snapper.
