Phil Steele Pre-Season All American List

Looks like LBJ's inabilty to win playoff games caught up to him in this list. 4th team QB?

All of these accolades for Clarence Bumpas are great, but I'm not sure if his head and heart aren't exactly on football at the moment. His son died this summer from child abuse. Of course every one grieves in different ways and maybe football will be a healing devise. Here's the story on Bumpas's tragedy:

Tragic and heartbreaking. My heart goes out to Clarence and aches for that poor little boy! Hope the bitches rot away in a cell for the rest of their lives!

Jesus. I can't believe I hadn't heard that story until now. Horrible...

My prayers go out to Mr. Bumpas, his family and teammates. We can jaw about this, that, and the other but football fans agree that life is precious and perspective is necessary. I hope Clarence can fulfill any dreams he has despite this nightmare. Poor little boy-heaven will be good to him.

I could make a case for DM in regards to beating out the 2nd and 3rd team qb's. I think he's better than both. however, there was no way in hell he was going to beat out Matthews for first team. that guy is a stud and has a chance to make a lot of noise this season. right now i'd say he's a lock to be a 2nd-3rd round draft pick but with a great senior season and post season workouts some draft experts think he could go higher than that. he's an ivy league guy with a prototypical nfl body.

as for "LBJ", some of you just have to love the irony of that little nickname in light of your current qb situation. your fans are literally awaiting the 2nd coming this season. the man that is going to bring you from the hell of missing the playoffs to the pearly gates of a national championship. the man that would have won you at least 5 more games last season and is sure to do that very thing this season. the savior if you will.

newsflash: cat fans love DM. we think he's wonderful. some even go over the top with praise for him. but we don't treat him any differently than griz fans treat their own players...JJ especially. the amount of pressure people are putting on him this season is amazing. I guess only time will tell who does more for our teams, our "black jesus", or the 2nd coming of your messiah... :o

I may be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure the moniker "Little Black Jesus" was first given to McGhee by Cat fans on BCN. Maybe the little part was added by Griz fans in parody, but I swear I remember a thread back in 2010 when it happened.

I think referring to either QB like that is quite silly, but any Cat fan that doubts the impact JJ will have on the team is really selling him short, as are Griz fans acting like McGhee isn't one of the best QBs in FCS.

What does "LBJ" stand for again Hammer?

I wasn't aware a former president played for the 'scats. :?

Hammer can, of course, speak for himself however I'm pretty sure "LBJ" is an homage to our 36th president Lyndon B. Johnson who, like Denarius McGee, loved tapioca pudding. I could be wrong and I'm sure Hammer will correct me if so; but I'm almost 100% sure that's where the "LBJ" assign is from.

McGhee threw 50 TD's. 50 if it was one.

Ran 100 yards... with his own legs. Cut through the D like...Moses through the Red Sea.

His legend grows. It will be worse than before.

He rallies new Bobcat fans in every Montana town. When they replenishes his numbers...

For how much I hate the Bobcats it's really hard not to like DM. He's been great for the rivalry and seems to be a great guy too. I hope the Cats can build off him and keep pushing the Griz to get better.

Any criticism of his play sure seems to turn fodder into Bobcat whine I'd have to say amen brother! And I second that DM seems to be a really decent human being - all rivalry bluster aside - and that is more important than any game.

I personally don't think that DM is all that good, he just isn't flashy. However, you can't argue with the numbers he puts up. He has a year to play and holds many of MSU's qb records. That's pretty impressive. At some point I feel like he needs to step up in a big game to cement himself as MSU's best ever. Not impressive in the games against the Griz, Yes he won a couple but impressive???? Playoff shitshows...

Yeah, I agree 100%. Denarius is very good. I think JJ's legacy will be stronger by the time he's finished here, but that remains to be played out, and besides, there's no need to tear down McGhee to build up Jordy. I assume there's a lot of mutual respect between these two guys.
