Pflugard

I'm not sure what people have against Pflu. He would have the perfect players to run his offense, which was rolling before he was fired, and he owned the Cats. If he were to return in any capacity, I would call it a grand slam of karmic justice.

That said, it ain't gonna happen.

That’s because Selle was hurt and Roper sucked in addition to being an arrogant ass.

Wouldn't Stitt have this same excuse, though?

Yes, to some extent, but I think most people think Jensen is already much better than Roper was. Stitt's crime was losing 2 years in a row to the Cats and allowing that game to knock UM out of the playoffs both years. I didn't turn on Stitt, in part I'm friends with him and the coaches, but I said many times that Haslam would be in a very tough spot, in terms of trying to renew Stitt, if the Cats beat the Griz. What occurred is exactly what I was saying or alluding to.

Had Stitt had the same year he did in '16, and then went to the semi's this year (akin to what Pflu did), obviously Stitt would still be the coach.

I wonder if Pflu might end up on Smith's staff at OSU. Pflu hired Smith. Pflu is an Oregon boy. Pflu recruits Oregon well.

That would be cool. Even as a receiver coach would be great for him. He’s been punished enough for believing in J Johnson and making the mistake of saying so publicly. OSU may be best opportunity for him seeing that J Johnson was acquitted and is a native son from just down the road. Robin P gave Smith his first OC opportunity. Would be nice to see Smith return a favor. If so and if the OSU AD says no, then Pflugrad probably never will get another shot. Black balled permanently. Royce says “and your welcome”.

I hope so. I don't know the dude, but he seems like a good guy and I think he's a damn good coach. He got F'd over at the U of M. He's way to good to be at a CC in Phoenix.

Maybe, but that doesn’t change anything. Remember the very next year Pflugrad took the Griz to the Semis. Stitt has no such success on his resume, despite coaching 1 more year than Pflu.

That’s Royce’s MO: ruining Universities and lives since 2010.

Right. But he never had one year in which his starting QB played more than half the games, and far too often was down to his 3rd string (or worse). I understand the point you're making, but I'm just looking for consistency. I think there are some Griz coaches who are given passes by posters on here and some who are not even though the circumstances are remarkably similar.

The consistency of Stitt’s system was that he was playing 3rd string EVERY year he was here. That’s bad. It implies inherent flaws in the system. Pflu had his faults, like having issues in short yardage situations, but he was a lot more flexible than Stitt was. Plus Pflu had Mike Breske. Stitt hired Jason Semore. That alone...
