Not even that good of a shot

The best thing was the week leading up to that game.SACCAT66 said:For some reason I can't remember the name Danny Woodhead. I remember Chadron State Running onto the field, and then it just kind of goes dark. I do remember drinking very heavily for rest of that year.

BWahlberg said:So... interesting to discuss that. No Pete isn't Woodhead, that's for sure, but in some cases he came darn close, and in others he did better than Woodhead.
Bench press: 16 reps (20 for Woodhead)
40 yard: 4.5 (4.33 for Woodhead)
Vertical: 36 (38 for Woodhead)
20-yd Shuttle: 4.06 (4.2 for Woodhead)
3 cone drill: 6.85 (7.03 for Woodhead)
So, kind of interesting when you look at some numbers... Peter is quicker/more agile than Woodhead, not as strong, but fairly close, and slower in the 40 yard dash. No big shock there. If you look at Pete's 10 yard and 20 yard times they're awfully similar to Woodhead's. So Pete's big issue physically compared to Woodhead... he can't hold that top speed - something we've known since he suited up for the Griz.

How many RB's between 16 & 20 bench presses?
How many between 4.33 & 4.5?
How many between 38 & 36 inches vertical?
Gaeilge1 said:I would not consider Danny Woodhead to be a small back. He might be short, but at 200 lbs or maybe a bit better, he would certainly be a load. Looking at pictures of him, he is built like a cement block! I would rather try to tackle someone with a higher center of gravity than a short powerful guy like Woodhead. Barry Sanders was 5'8 and weighed about 203 when he was playing and I don't recall anyone calling him small.

I wouldn't say "meaningless". I would say they are good enough to get your foot in the door. There is a whole lot more than a few numbers that come into play to get you through the door, including some that sometimes have nothing to do with logic or reason or even talent. Luck sure plays a part -- especially when you are close to the edge.Raider said:AZGrizFan said:BWahlberg said:So... interesting to discuss that. These are not dime a dozen numbers.
All of these numbers are better than Montee Ball’s combine numbers this year.
..and if you want to compare former Griz, they are better numbers than Lex Hilliard, who was a physical freak for this level.
..translation? They are meaningless.

Pro ball...how do you define professional? He had a token invitation to try to play pro ball.
