I posted elsewhere that, if I was Cruzado, Fields would be following Ash out the door.....

if many of us had our way...fields would have been in front holding the door for ash. i'd say of this next hire doesn't work out fields is as good as gone. this is basically a hail mary for him as far as i'm concerned.

I cannot believe an AD at a DI program could not handle that press conference better.

First, I can't believe he didn't have a prepared statement. He could have headed off a lot of the questions.

Exactly my point...or at least part of it. Totally unprepared. Didn't explain situation with assistant coaches staying on until a new head man hired until he was prompted by a reporter to address the rest of the staff...he didn't lay out a clear timetable or clear vision of what he is looking for in a new coach... He made a very unprofessional comment to a local reporter prior to official start of presser...he gave incomplete and unclear answers to questions...he left himself vulnerable to open-ended questions from reporters due to lack of prepared statement upfront....just an all-around shit show. A major part of his job is to deal with the media and to represent MSU Athletics in all situations. He dropped the ball today. The main point of my original post was how fortunate we are to have Haslam at the helm and quality coaches in charge of our three major sports. Considering how big of a cloud hung over UM Athletics just a short time ago the skies have now cleared and the future is bright.

Absolutely!! We are extremely fortunate to have Haslam. To look back at his coaching hires, it's remarkable, really.
