PEP BAND

GEEEEZ FELLAS SORRY FOR THE YELLING BUT YOU SEE I RETIRED A YEAR AGO IN OCTOBER FROM 4O YEARS ON THE RAILROAD AND IM SORT OF HARD HEARING :beer2:

And now way do I consider any of the people in the band as nerds.

I can't imagine what the atmosphere at Griz b-ball games would be likewithout the Pepe Band. I especially enjoy the old Bruce Channel hit "Hey, Baby (won't you be my girl?) I just wish the usually dead butt crowd would give them some acknowledgement. The Band rocks!

But as far as rowdiness goes they fall short of the LSJMB, or Stanford Pep Band, in which my daughter played "trump." Before and during her four years the band was banned from appearing at Notre Dame after doing a rather off-color presentation while donned in nun's habits they popped into on the sidelines. They were also banished from going back to Eugene after a poorly received halftime show featuring Woodsie Owl.

But hey, that's Oregon for you.

The band in high school is not like the band in college. Yes, in high school most of the kids in the pep band are nerds. However, I know some really popular kids in the pep band here at the U, they just happen to be doing something you like. Half of the games, they are only students who do any sort of cheering what so ever. Some of us where even athletes ourselves at one point. I have friends who were all state football players and musicians at the same time. I have never understood the animosity towards the pep band here. The fans should be cheering them on (unless they cross the line, which has been known to happen), not belittling them for being passionate fans.

Count me as one

I wouldn't take a good pep band for granted. I still cringe if the MSU pep band has to play the national anthem. They've improved by leaps and bounds in recent years, so it's not quite so bad. I've always thought the Grizzly bands were good and I was very impressed with the U of M marching band at the Cat-Griz football game. I used to do marching band here in Bozeman (I didn't really enjoy it, though) and it takes a lot of good work to do that. Just my :twocents:.

i know you were mslaman56 i saw you tootin your sax. i know not ALL kids in band are nerds my good friend was an all state saxophonist and i gave him shit all the time for it so if you're offended by my band statement, get over it. its not that big of a deal.
