Penn State interested in Decuire

Just hearing his name mentioned though might spark some other teams interest. I don’t like it but I’m being selfish. Besides, why wouldn’t he want to stay here where he’s adored by the fan base.

Penn State pays its coach $900,000 per year. I believe he is currently making $180,000. Money is not everything, but . . .

I believe he is making quite a bit more here.

Regarding Travis’s income at Montana I know there are incentives over and above his base salary. In addition there is a group of Travis supporters who have sweetened the pot significantly so there’s not that much difference from what Penn State is currently paying. Based on today’s going rate for head coaches I would have to say double the amount and you might be in the ballpark.
I agree with the caller who said he’s a West Coast guy and his recruiting grounds are West and not East. But anything is possible so no one can say never gonna happen. A lot of behind the curtain things going on that we will never hear about.

I just read an article on his incentives. It seems like if he hits all of his reasonable incentives, he still would he unlikely to get past $400,000 but a smaller gap than I earlier had mentioned but still significant.

Also, I have no way of knowing what the alumni are doing so I would defer to other’s knowledge.

He was also an assistant with Taylor at Old Dominion in Virginia so he has some familiarity with that part of the country. A big ten school also has resources to recruit anywhere so it’s not like he still couldn’t pull recruits from California or Washington.

I was kinda being tongue in cheek there where if you only read eGriz, many folks have been extremely critical of him this year, which is very unwarranted in my very non-professional opinion.

I think Cal made a mistake in not hiring DeCuire when Monty retired. We owe them a debt of of gratitude.

I am also guessing if he sits tight both the UW and Cal jobs will be open within the next two years, possibly as early as the end of next basketball season.

I saw TDC on Montana Griz Week, or whatever it was called. I hadn't seen him on TV before this. Maybe it's just the medium, a computer camera, but he did NOT look very happy or enthused. Going through the motions, yes, like a contractual thing. Maybe going 11 - 12 the season after the 'Dance' and high expectations for this year has something to do with the situation. I've felt the way he looked, at the time, while looking to get 'the hell outta Godge.' Just my impression.

There’s no doubt he’s dealt with a lot of drama and has had it with this season, but as long as he’s here he’s gonna continue to give 110%. It’s his alma mater and he’s passionate about UM.

I can’t see Decuire wanting to move his family cross country, but the minute that UW job opens up, we can start sweating.
