Pacific joins the West Coast Conference

In basketball realignment news, Pacific joined the West Coast Conference today, leaving behind the Big West.
 
Good for Pacific. The disappointing part of this, it was only several years ago, when the WCC was a one bid conference too, pretty close to the Big Sky. Yet in that time, look where they are now in the basketball world, as a 2 to 3 team bid conference, and look where the Big Sky still is? Can it get any more depressing for Big Sky conference fans?
 
The Big Sky is a football league. The WCC is a basketball only league -- that' s where they put their resources. They are also distinctive academically -- more exclusive and more expensive. They operate in a different world than a collection of second and third-tier state schools.
