The Pac-10 has negotiated tv deals worth $3 billion over the next 12 years, and is creating its own conference tv network for some sports/games. See the linked article.

If anyone knows how the new deal the ten member Big 12 worked compared to the Pac-12 and some of the others that have been done since then.

Could the Big 12 now consider expansion in hopes of being able to renegotiate it's deals?

Thanks, in adavance to anyone who could answer that.

This looks like much of the motivation behind conference expansion. I wonder if big tv deals like this mean that the market for college tv coverage is expanding, or whether deals like this will take dollars away from lesser conferences, including both FBS and FCS. With regard to FCS, my impression is that there is some evidence of potential developing markets for good FCS games, involving bigger names teams like UM and App St., some of the historically black schools, some of the CAA teams, perhaps the expanded Big Sky, and even the Ivies.

I thought this article and topic might be used to have a discussion television possibilities for FCS and the Big Sky, but I guess the Bin Laden discussion has been deemed to be closer Griz football and FCS than this one.
