Out-of-bounds plays

Seems like most of you do not like to discuss Xs and 0s, but I wanted to make an observation about the Griz/NAU I saw last Saturday. NAU scored a lay-up on FOUR out-of-bounds plays from under their bucket! That's 8 easy points given up! I mean an easy lay-ups! To the contrary, Montana's out-of-bounds plays never worked, and it was a real effort for the Griz to even get the ball into play within 5 seconds!

Tinkel needs to do something different in defending the out-of-bounds play. And, he needs to learn to teach some plays which free-up easy shots when the Griz have the ball under their own bucket.

Haven't really noticed it, but I didn't watch that game. I don't want to start a new thread for such a related question, but who else thinks that it should be a violation for a guy to throw in into the backcourt from his own baseline?

I know it's technically permitted now, but does anyone else want to see a rule prohibiting this as much as I do?

Without a healthy Will Cherry, institute the rule. With a healthy Will Cherry, I love it as it is!!!! He gets a lot of his steals with teams trying that. This subject to review after the 2012/2013 season. :thumb:

The out of bounds situation was not good at NAU. I don't remember the exact plays but I do remember the zone having a horrible time trying to get lined up without Will out there so that may have given NAU a few of the easy buckets. As far as the offensive side, it can be hard to score without any great shooters to make the defense stretch, which would open up a passing lane inside.
