Our Secret Weapon?

The most stunning aspect of this game for me was that we proved to be the equal of them physically.

This NEVER happens when the FCS takes on a FBS School. But it did yesterday. By the fourth quarter, our kids were still flying to the ball, and our offensive line was dominant. THEY were the team with hands on hips.

Which has led me to our secret weapon: The Champions Center

It was completed in October 2017. It means that post-Covid, this is the first time one of our teams has had the full advantage of it in an FBS game. Maybe the first time ever an FCS school has had the advantage of such a great facility.

It showed yesterday. BIg time.

I think our “secret” weapon this year is the depth we have across the board. It’s insane. Almost literally NO drop off in the top 4 corners, top 6 LB’s, virtually ANYbody on the D-line…we’re 8-9 deep on the O-line, and we’re seeing the benefit of depth in the RB position…..it will bode VERY well for the rest of the season….

I think you're both right. Having a facility like the champions center means that we can recruit under recruited kids who are too skinny, give them a meal plan and throw them in the weight room and a few years later what do you get? Depth.

All true. Our D line has played against an O line as good or some may say better that UW. That would be our O line ..... In scrimmages. Now please team Griz... Stay humble and kind together with your focused fury!

I agree that our depth at most every position in a huge key to staying with good teams for four quarters. Do any of you remember how our defense under Stitt and Delaney seemed to wilt after halftime? And do you remember that having depth during our glory years under Papa Bear, Dennehy, Glenn, and Hauck always seemed to give us a huge advantage over our competition? I know Bobby has been focused on having two-deep quality players at every position, and it has taken him 4 years to accomplish that. But we have it now, and opponents will experience that fact as games wear on.

It's actually only taken 2-3 years for Bobby to get the D back to where it needs to be for Griz to return to being a Championship quality team. RTD!!

I was astounded at how well the Griz matched up physically in H2

The tackling was superb. The pursuit was relentless. Defensive angles taken throughout the game closed off explosive plays

Robby Hauck solo tackle on future NFL tight end Otton was as good as any I have seen on that guy and I have watched many Husky games

Montana’s play in all phases demonstrates a well coached and conditioned team with intelligent football players

So proud of the Griz and more fans at the game than most PAc 12 schools except WSU and UO
