Our center

Not sure of his name, maybe Martin. I have only seen him play on TV a couple of times. He is a 7-foot freshman, who does not seem to have any offense. My question for the fans who see him play often is this - do you think he will develop an offensive game in the future? Is he the answer at center for the next three years?

You do know, don't you, that Martin was slated to redshirt. But that got pulled when Reader and the foreign kid didn't make it. I'm sure he's going to improve, but it isn't going to happen in the next few days.

I wouldn't count on him knowing anything about the Griz based on the amount of posts and not knowing his name, either. I could be wrong.

I think Tinks has just had him laying in the weeds rope-a-doping all season waiting for the tournament. He is about to rise up and and open up a can of hot, jellied whupass the likes of which are seldom seen. Or maybe not...

I think he will....He has nice touch and a decent shot and can shoot freethrows...so I think he puts on some weight and gains confidence there is no reason he doesn't develop a nice offensive game.

Syracuse was my pick in Novemeber to win it all, but we see every game they play and one thing stands out above all others...they foul a lot! They are big, fast, extremely well coached. Montana cannot just throw up the 3pt shot and hope it goes in...Tinks has his work cut out...

First off our starting center is Eric Hutchinson.

Secondly as others posted Martin is a freshman, he clearly needs to put on about 15-20 more pounds so he doesn't get shoved around as much down there, hopefully he can do that and it won't cost him any athleticism. Martin could become a great center within a few years - I think the future is bright for this guy.

Martin is improving with every game. He has to spend hours in the weight room so he can put on pounds of muscle, but with Tinkle's coaching you will see a very improved center next year. I think he has the potential to be a star while at Montana.

One thing he really needs to work on is being ready for the dish from Jamar or Cherry when they drive. How many did he let go through his legs or fumble away in the chipper? I to believe he could be a good center in a couple of years though.

Was thinking the same. Couple went right between the legs...

To have Ward would have been great...smh

It wouldn't hurt Hutch to put on 20 pounds of muscle too. He gets pushed around a bit. Martin will be a big asset in the future.

Martin is a better center than Hutch, IMO, and his playing time has gone up considerably. I wouldn't be surprised to see Martin starting next year.. he's pretty lean right now.. put some weight on him and I think he's going to do great inside.

Hutch has really developed over the past few weeks; he has the size and the heft; he's getting the experience, and he's able to do things he couldn't do a couple of months ago -- no lack of talent, just confidence and he's been gaining fast.

I like Andy Martin. I suspect with some weight, considerably, he could be something like Ken McKenzie, and Hutch will become something like Earl Tye; a big strong forward, they were a good combination.

Hutch still gets pushed around a lot.. definitely not as skilled as Weber's Tresnak who was all over him in two of the three meetings between the Griz and Wildcats.

I would bet he thinks about that every night when he goes to sleep. He's developing ... It'll come along.

This is despite the facts that his favorite Food is Humus, his Favorite class is Stats, his Favorite book is 50 Shades of Gray, his Favorite movie is Willow and that "If a movie were made of my life, I would like the following actor to play me: Michael Jackson," and that "The person in history I would like to meet most is: Jack Black."

I have no idea what any of that means. I would characterize Hutch as being in many ways, "unique."

You guys need to give this kid a break. The passers were equally at fault, you don't throw a bounce pass to 7 foot freshman below his waist in traffic. Not in the Big 10, Big East or anywhere. The last TO was when Kareem was out of control and Martin was a desperation destination for a pass. If you are in this situation put it up high where he has a chance to use his biggest strength, his 7 feet. Lay off Andy, he's done pretty well for a skinny kid thrown into the fray because of circumstances out of his control.

Tinks will coach him up and I bet he will pretty good in a couple years. He's a frosh that had to fill in as an emergency measure. Holy Moly, Hutch had 1 board in close to 20 minutes against Weebs and you guys are hating on Andy...SMH

I don't think anyone is hating on him, at least I wasn't. Just pointing out that he needs to work on some things. The potential is there, would like to see him develop it and I am sure that is his goal too.

You unfairly attributed turnovers to Andy when crappy passes were a bigger factor. We do agree if Andy inproves the Griz will get better, that is my hope and with Tinks at the helm I don't doubt they WILL get better. I'm sure we all hope the Griz will do well this week and down the road
