The wac still makes the most sense for sout. It's better geographically, and goodness knows they were never a fit in the bsc (#bsc; thanks foolerton).

For SUU leaving the Big Sky was a very stupid move.

Perfect in '21, 0-8 in conf. and 1-10 overall with a win over powerhouse Tarleton. They've won all of 3 conference games total in the last 4 years. If you lose teams from a conference, you want it to be teams from the bottom.

I’d be concerned if I were SUU… but there’s a reason I posted this podcast.

If the WAC does have more defections, just know- and I’m sure you know- it’s possible they’re not the only conference with serious issues making numbers for football over the next 5 years.

The part of the discussion that most intrigues me is when the discussion turns toward ADs contemplating the idea of multiple sport-specific conferences or more collaborations like the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. It’s possible we could see a merger of a few FCS football conferences while getting other sports into more sane travel situations.

So I wouldn’t discount the possibility that the Big Sky loses some sports (without the schools actually dropping them) and then accepts SUU back for football. Not that I’ll hold my breath.
