opponent red zone efficiency

if the griz opponent red zone efficiency isn't still 100%, it must be very close. that seems like a coordinator issue to me. among other things i think they should get tripp and kanongat'a out of there when the other team is close to scoring. i would replace them with lb's who will stay in their positions and stand up blockers/clog holes.

Against the Griz teams are 12-12 in the red zone. They have 9 tds (6 rush, 3 pass) and 3fgs.

Big Sky Conf stats the teams with the worst RZ defenses:

Montana
Montana State
Idaho State
Cal Poly

All have allowed scores 100% of the time when the opposing team is in the RZ.

So take it one step deeper, of these four, who has allowed the MOST?

1. Montana 12 scores
2. ISU 10 scores
3. CPSLO 7 scores
3. MSU 7 scores

Now lets go even further, of those scores, who has allowed the most TDs?

1. Montana 9 TDs
1. ISU 9 TDs
3. CPSLO 6 TDs
4. MSU 4 TDs

sooooooooo yeah. The only thing to point out is ISU has only played 3 games vs UMs 4... but still...

ouch. red zone defense has long been a calling card of the griz. this year the d seems more porous in the red zone than on the opposite side of the field. i hope they can shore this up soon, or it will be a very long season.

I'm not too big on stats, but redzone numbers are extremely important. We'd be better off suiting up that non-endowed streaker from 2011 when opponents are inside the 20.

Agreed, it seemed in the past (especially at home, and especially in the north endzone) we would eke it out in the RZ and get the stop on 4th down. We always seemed to find a way, especially when it mattered most. I was hoping for that against NAU countless times, but it just wasnt there. They pretty much had our number with the run game.

yep. teams are 15-15 against griz redzone d. cats right there with you allowing 14-14. i guess if there is a silver lining it's that only two other teams have allowed fewer tries than our 14. eastern has allowed 13 tries and poly 11 tries. really gotta want to look for the silver lining though.... :D
