One Question

I've had one question about Griz basketball which dates way back to the Stone Age (e.g. when I attended):

Why don't the Griz big men dunk the damn basketball when they're inside and in traffic? If they took it up strong and jammed it home they'd likely get an "and one" on nearly every play. Instead, it try to lay it up and seemingly end up with either a miss or a rejection? Again, this goes way back to the LK/Tinkle days. You saw the cats dunk at nearly every opportunity.

I agree with you except I remember Derrick Pope and Dan Trammel as being an exception to this especially Pope.

Derrick Pope's backboard-shattering dunk at Idaho was, in my opinion, the greatest play in Griz basketball history. (I agree about Herb Jones, too. He could also shoot it from way out.)

Pope was unbelievable also. What was that skinny white kid that broke the backboard for us? Coltart or something. That was a weak dunk that broke a backboard.

Are you sure about Herb having range? I sure don't remember him being a deep threat, maybe Leroy Washington??

Indeed. Saw it with my own eyeballs. The funny thing is that his shots were from deep in the corner, well past the current 3-point line.

I played on a rec league team with Spoja at the Peak. (Not named that back then). He was such an incredible athlete. When he played ratball you really saw his athleticism. We only lost to one team: Tinkle, Schweyen and Connor Henry were on the other team. Ungodly.

Who did you cover when you played Tinkle's team, Crack? Spoja must have been ungodly because I'm sure he had to cover both yours and his during those games.
