Olympics Judging Scandal Spreads to Tae Kwon Do

Yahoo! is reporting a TKD incident involving a US athlete that smacks of conspiracy, collusion, vindictive behavior and a coverup. Two-time defending gold medalist Steven Lopez, who hadn't lost a match since 2002, was falsely deducted a point for a bogus "cut kick" foul on a legitimate leg block. (The opponent pulled something akin to a soccer "flop.") Lopez subsequently lost in overtime, and his immediate protest (which was banned by a forced signing of an edict of the World TKD Federation prior to the Olympics) was not handled in the proper manner.

Yet another black eye for the Olympics, and in a sport that looks like it may go away.
