From the Missoulian and "Ol Coach" Hal Sherbeck too bad they misspell his name. Hal is in the Hall of Fame here at Montana and the field is also named for Hal at Fullerton.

"Fullerton College athletics will dedicate a sculpture and scholarship this month to the memory of Harold "Hal" Scherbeck, a former Montana Grizzly football player who went on to a national record-setting football coaching career at the California school.

Scherbeck, a Grizzly letterman from Big Sandy in 1950-51 who died at age 86 last August, coached at both Missoula County High School and the University of Montana before starting at Fullerton College in 1961 as head coach. He won 241 games in 31 seasons, the most of any community college coach at the time of his retirement in 1992.

The Hal Scherbeck sculpture dedication at Fullerton College is scheduled for Aug. 29 at 12:30 p.m.

Donations to the Sherbeck Scholarship Fund can be made by sending a check to Robert Jensen, c/o Fine Arts, Fullerton College, 321 E. Chapman Avenue, Fullerton CA, 92835."
