Oklahoma Panhandle St...

He could have scheduled Rocky and we would have been able to see more boys from Montana play which is such a big thing in the minds of many.

Do you really think UM wants to totally embarrass another Montana team outside of moo U? Get a clue.

Heck pay Northern or Tech 50,000 grand instead and at least keep the money in state and give some Montana natives the chance to play in a great stadium.

My thoughts exactly.

Who scheduled this game?

I believe O'Day scheduled the game.

Do you know what year he scheduled the game?

Not sure, but I recall a Tweet from Haslam saying that the game had been scheduled previous to when he took over. I'll see if I can find it.

Haslam is correct. Very tough to schedule home games OOC. I agree I'm not overly excited about OPSU but NOBODY and I mean nobody wants to play at Wa Griz OOC without about a half a mil guarantee. Would you rather just have a bye week or bring in a patsie from Ok for a simulated practice, give them their 50 or 75 k and send them on their way and bring about 500,000 of revenue to UM. Everybody wants to bash the schedule but they don't understand the whole story.

O'Day did not schedule OK Panhandle St. My impression is that they may have been scheduled after O'Day and before Haslam.

The problem with games like this is that they are all about the money, for both schools. This is the kind of matchup where there is simply no upside for anyone and the potential for injury is as great as in any other game. The outcome is a given, but it is in this kind of setting that the superior team will often get somewhat lackadaisical and may have some serious injuries. As for the opponent, their sideline could look more like a M.A.S.H Unit than a football sideline by the end of the game.

If anyone is left in the stands by the end of the 3rd, I would be pleasantly surprised.

Frankly, I think both schools would be better off without this fiasco.

Well I like the stadium. I like the colors, the mature trees and the water tank. It has some character. I like the fact that in thousands of stadiums like this come fall, moms, dads, sisters, brothers, aunts and uncles will get in their cars or walk to the stadium to see their favorite sons play the greatest game ever. They will cheer as hard as we do for our beloved Griz and the smell of popcorn, polish dogs and beer will be on the evening breeze. Hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions of folks with their hears soaring or plunging on every play. In the heat of a hot August night in southern Mississippi or the brutal cold of late November in Missoula they come to both the crackerboxes and the mega stadiums. It is a good thing and one of the things that makes America great.

Wow!! Great paragraph, CClark! Who the hell do you think you are, Mickey Spillane?

...other than the "brutal cold of late Novemer in Missoula". I know that is part of our schtick, but it's annoying as hell. I've been to a dozen college and NFL games in Novmeber a hell of allot colder than WAGriz.
Curious how cold you rank scat vs griz a few years ago when we wore black and pumpkin??? :egriz:

Someone took the easy way out with scheduling this game. People in the athletic department are drawing salaries with this result? Not acceptable.

Not that long ago that the Scats went down to Chadron and Central Wash???????

I don't think MSU lost to Central Washington (we almost did), but Chadron and Central Washington would take OPSU to the woodshed. :coffee:

I would have rather we played a MWC, Pac-12, or ex-WAC school even though it would have been an away game... I would have been REALLY thrilled to travel to the Kibbie Dome to see us destroy the Vandals.

Things have really gone down hill when people say, "I would have been really thrilled to travel to the Kibbie Dome..."

LOL... yeah... I would like to rekindle the UI-UM rivalry though.

MSU did not travel to DIIs; they lost to both at beautiful Bobcat "Stadium."

10/5/2002 CWU 31; MSU 16
9/9/2006 Chadron 35; MSU 24

And then there was DII Humboldt St. at the same venue.....

9/9/2000 Humboldt St. 23; MSU 14

None of them nail-biters....

Agree, but Haslam has confirmed that, like the WAC, the Sun Belt also has the rule that its members cannot play at FCS venues, so no home and home with Idaho.
