Oklahoma Drill from today's practice

This place never fails to entertain...

Here's what I took away:

1. Ralston is a MAN. No question he is tough enough to bring DOLA...is he big enough?
2. Favoroso is also a MAN. He ate up the block and allowed Cochran to make that play. Can Favoroso shed blocks to make/assist in making that play himself?
3. Cochran - wow.
4. Moody - ouch.

Good video, thanks for posting.

Exactly....get Cochran out there! Let's see him light up some guys one special teams. See the way he keeps his legs pumping all the way through the tackle? F yes.

Yeah the one thing that would've been interesting to see, if that was Green, McCombs, or (if he were doing contact drills) Calhoun carrying the ball. Not knocking on Moody but the guy converted from being a CB for the last 2-3 years, might have lacked that experience/know how to not get popped like that. Moody gets on his toes to go low, Cochran gets under him though, and it's lights out.

Word is he has packed on the weight (in a GOOD way) this off season and is now well over 275...so yeah, he's big enough, and getting bigger.

He is around 295 right now.

Not saying it's accurate but recent depth chart has him at 295. If that's true he looks like a fit 295 which tells me as long as he gets the technique down he has a great opportunity to start.

He sure looks the part, we'll see if he's got the skills for sure in the next few scrimmages as he's got Favoroso and Schye to block out.

Ralston had his ass handed to him. Late off the ball, no leg drive, pad level high which allowed the D to push him back. Second step was a big drop step backward which made the running back have to cut to avoid him having no momentum to take on the linebacker, who then smashes him...that version of the drill provides an advantage to the defense until they get a snap count implemented. Ralston will do better next time. Fun to see the guys compete!

These kind of drills and others were a staple in Hauck camps. I'm not 100% sure but I think this is the first time I've seen it in a Stitt spring camp.

That's Raslton for the OL #51

Favoroso at DE #93

Cochran the LB #57

Moody, converted RB from CB carrying the ball #25

This is what happens when you have a 5'8", 165 walk-on (Rudy) collide with 6'1", 221 lb Linebacker. Nothing like a 4 inch and 56 lb difference... :?

Big props to Moody, the kid is a SR and has basically never played, and still comes out for more,

I absolutely LOVE the Oklahoma drill (all variations of it). It was my favorite drill in HS. Nothing more invigorating. It is a toughness drill. And that is why you play the game, to prove how tough you are.

The OK drill I'm familiar with has three players.

What's up with the extra linebacker? This looks like something that goes on in Ursa's Idaho man cave after vodkas. So Ralston is supposed to block two guys like there's a chance in hell Stitt will be a running play like this in his offense? Nevermind. Nice job Mike Ralston, not your fault your coaches run a hybrid Oklahoma drill to go with a hybrid offense.

Hey mister, we strictly run only three man Okies in my house. My Russian mail order wife's younger sisters, Inya & Onya, put the rump in rumpus room.
