Official Visits / Recruits

I have heard that the Griz have scheduled 6-9 Joe Kammerer and 6-7 Max Jacobsen in for official visits on the 26th. Jacobsen is a a Rivals 2 star player out Oregon power Lake Oswego. Rivals has Kramerer out of North Eugene Oregon, listed but no Stars but Scouts last week ranked as the #7 center prospect in the west. Jacobson is being recruited by over 8-10 schools with teams like UNLV, Pacific, and Utah State in the hunt. Portland State seems to be the favorite. Kramerer also has 8-10 teams chasing, and has at least 5 offers from UM, Idaho, Weber, N. Colorado, and UC Irvine

Kevin Love went to Lake Oswego

I changed the title of this thread so I could dump some more recruiting info into is, and not have to start a new thread. Just thought I would update you on a few recruits.

Joe Kammerer a 6-9 center forward mentioned earlier in this thread committed to Idaho yesterday and canceled his trip to Missoula for this week end.

Brandon Durham a 6-8ish 230 lb forward from North Kitsap high school in Washington visited last week end and had a good week end. He is visiting Northridge and UC Irvine this week end. He may not sign until the spring, and I think is hoping to catch on with a Pac-10 school. Of all of the big guys the Griz have had in he is my personal favorite. Nice size, and good athleticism.

Eric Hutchison who visited two weeks back visited Sac State last week end and is scheduled to visit Utah State the week end of Oct. 3rd. He will most likely make his choice between these three after the Utah State trip unless someone new comes into the picture. He is considered to be wide open at this point.

I also hear the Griz are looking at Justin Johnson, a 6-foot-2 guard from Citrus JC in California. I think they are looking at him as a possible spring recruit at this point. N. Arizona is also looking at him.

not a great start to this year's recruiting, obviously, if you assume you bring in your top kids first. so: the first two resist one of our best recruiting tools--witnessing a game at wa-griz--to sign with other schools, and the third doesn't even show up. okay, some kids are beyond your reach, like deangelo casto, stockton's teammate at ferris, but not these kids, judging from the schools they signed with--portland state, pacific and....idaho?? finally, of the two kids uncommitted, one will visit utah state, where you can bet stew morrill will throw every bit of dirt he has on montana at the kid, and the other is highly touted by the avowed lover of everything blue and gold, mslacat, which prompts you to ask, "is he pulling a brer' rabbit on us?"

still, recruiting is a mercurial game; who knows what's inside the head of a high school senior? and in a few days, if hutchison or durham commits, i'll be out here raving about tinks's recruiting skills, because after all, there's absolutely nobody on earth more mercurial than a sports fan.

Not necessarly true city, you get the kids to come when you can. The Griz have gotten many of their better recruits over the years after a kid who aspired to loftier programs was passed over by their school of choice because they landed a better recruit. Recruiting is a year round thing and Tinks has shown he can do just fine in that area. In fact, I don't think it is a stretch to say at this stage Tinks is a better recruiter than Huse is, even though a LOT of people posted Huse was going to own Tinks in that area. The Griz FB game is fun for a recruit, but that has never been the reason any basketball player signs at UM. Hell, truth be known, if the recruit meets a hot chick when he is taken out on the town by his host has made a far bigger impact on recruiting than going to WaGriz ever has.

I hear the Griz are looking at, Colton Christian a 6-7 205 lb power forward from Bellevue Washington. I do not beleive they have offered him yet, but he is being also recruited by (newly D-1) U. of Seattle, and some D-2 schools. he averaged 14 1/2 points, 7 rebounds, while shooting 60% from the field.
