I'm going on record right now:

The winner will be the awesome driver of the #7 car. Michael Andretti may be going out without winning, but one of his teammates will definitely win.

There's a rain delay after 113 laps.

Tony Kanaan has taken the lead, and pole sitter Helio Castroneves had pre-start problems and has dropped to 6th. My favorite (as well as that of ABC analysts Rusty Wallace and Scott Goodyear) has moved from 8th to 3rd. Marco Andretti has led a couple of laps, but is now in second.

Mario has stated that he'd rather have son Michael win over grandson Marco. That's going to make for a nice Thanksgiving, isn't it? Particularly if Marco wins. Which he won't, on account of the winner's going to be #7.

IF we get a re-start, that is. Rain, rain, go away, come back some other day.

looks like Dario Franchitti won

what place did Danica end up taking? I just swiched over from the coke 600 and saw him driving around in the rain.

I'm SO pi$$ed about the rain.

Danica finished right where she started: in 8th. Still, that's yet ANOTHER Top 10 finish. All y'all claiming Danica sucks better choke on THEM apples. Ahead of 23 dudes, most of whom will never even whiff the Top 10 outside of a pit shift. Actually, she finished ahead of a few who were thought to have a shot at winning. Choke on THAT, you male chauvinist pigs!!!

:guns:

The analysts were talking about the dangers of starting in the back row as Milka did. Her four master's degrees did her no good back there sucking up everyone else's fumes. The analysts stated that it's really hard to steer back there at the beginning. It's no surprise that as an older rookie of ANY gender that she ended up in a wreck.

Unfortunately, Sarah Fisher didn't do so hot either, even though she didn't start as far back as Milka did.

At this rate, we're going to have a 50:50 gender-split field in ten to fifteen years!

Listen to any expert on racing and they will tell you the gender has nothing to do with whether or not a woman will ever win in Indy racing, or Nascar. It is ALL about equipment and resources to do the R&D necessary to compete. Patrick is no better driver than Fisher, but she is going to do much better now that she is on the Andretti Team. If you listen to her comments, that is obvious.

i agree with some of what you're saying but i still think the driver playes a biger roll then you're giving them credit for. While equipment and resources do play a bigger and bigger roll every year if you don't have a smart driver who can relate to the crew what the car is doing so the crew can adjust for them they will never win.

While I personally think that the driver has to have SOME sort of talent to be good, there IS something to what you say, GB. The analysts on Sunday said as much in comparing Patrick and Fisher. However, I think that at least part of the difference is Patrick's continuous string of experience, whereas Fisher only picked it back up in the last year. The difference is REALLY seen in the difference on Sunday between Fisher and Duno. Both support teams were probably about equal, give or take a little bit, but Fisher has a ton more experience than Duno. This could explain a bit between their qualifying and perhaps Duno's failure to avoid that wreck. I saw at least one instance late in the race where Patrick was able to swerve to avoid a crash. Of course, this isn't absolute, as some accidents are unavoidable; Marco could tell you that.

the drivers have to have an incredible amount of talent to be where they are wheather it be in indy car or cup racing. When you reach the pinnacle of your sport you're no slouch. That being said, if you put Jeff Gordon or Dan Wheldon in an ill handeling car they aren't going to win. As for Danica, i think she's a great driver. From what i've seen she seems more agressive this year. Maybe it's the equipment she's in. It's only a matter of time before she wins a race.

I call bullshit on the gender comment.

Women in general are lighter than men. Gender is an advantage.

For every 1lb of rotating mass you gain 8 HP. Her car has to have a higher HP/Weight ratio since they don't weight the cars. I don't think she is all that everyone tinks she is. She is a novelty act at best.

I agree w/ Alph...er...a...Chuck.

I call BS on Chuck for once. If Danica sucks so bad, then please explain:

Darren Manning 29 starts, 0 wins
Ed Carpenter 53 starts, 0 wins
Kosuke Matsuura, 51 starts, 0 wins
Vitor Meira, 64 starts, 0 wins
Sarah Fisher, 55 starts, 0 wins
A.J. Foyt IV, 53 starts, 0 wins

You get the idea. Manning, Matsuura, Carpenter, Fisher, and Foyt also have a horrible Top 10 track record. Only Meira on this list and Danica herself have a decent Top 10 track record. In fact, Danica has been in the Top 10 in over 50% of her races.

Choke on THAT, Chuck. No RHKTTH necessary.
