offense

Granted we don’t know how the newcomers will play or fit in, but at least on paper, it would seem that last year’s team had more offensive potential than this year’s team.

The upbeat brand of fast break basketball that we all want and that I feel is the best against bigger stronger opponents starts with getting the ball off the defensive board and I believe this team has the bigger talent to do that, certainly more than the teams of the last few years.

Hey, how nice to see a fresh post on the basketball board! I think this staff made good use of the portal as any staff must these days and I am upbeat about this team.

Took an unauthorized peek at a practice this week (after purchasing my 2022-23 season tix)... wow, I'm going to need to scan the roster a few times to get familiar. My first impression is that this year's squad has generally more height & bulk than last year. At 6'-1" Brandon Whitney (who's the same height as Will Cherry) was dwarfed. All other "guards" on the roster are at least 6-3. They guys were working hard. Go Griz.

What do you think, same offense or just maybe.....

Much of the same, no shooting and going to try and out muscle the other team and drive to hoop, if we are more athletic we grind the game down score enough points to win 65-59. If the other team is more athletic we lose, and god forbid if they are more athletic and can shoot we lose by 30pts. We will also lose a few games we should have won because we cant shoot and shorten the game so even though we are clearly better and should be up by 20 we will only be up by 6 and then one of our shooting droughts and a few lucky 3s by the other team will let them steal the game. Basically, we will try and play Alabama football (of a few years ago) with Bigsky Athletes, it works decent if you got the top athletes in Bigsky but ur ceiling is consistently beating mid to low tier Bigsky talent and trading blows with the top teams and not even having a punchers chance against teams above that level. So the hope is that we have a few guys that would be top half of the league players in any conference like Rorie and Oguine and Pridgett then maybe thier is some upside to get excited about.
