1) Bobby knows what he is doing.
A) Assembling a coaching staff- Bobby was able to assemble a veteran staff (unusual for FCS) comprised mostly of men that are in the back half of their careers that like living in Missoula and are content with the stability this job offers. With the exception of 2018 when the roster was weak, the second half adjustments this staff makes is a decisive advantage.
B) Long term vision- From the beginning it was obvious that Bobby wasn't going to take short cuts that would undermine the long term viability of the program. The best example of this was not granting Calhoun his request to redshirt right before the Idaho game. Calhoun was not a player Bobby wanted in the program for another year despite the fact he was our best back.
C) Managing the roster during the Covid year- Because of the unlimited scholarship athletes teams could carry during this period, some teams stockpiled upper classmen. This created a gap when these players left and the current roster. Bobby was very vocal about not jeopardizing the long term heath of the program for short term gain. The result is the current roster that is well balanced and deep.
2) I love playoff time, however I caught myself wondering what the future could look like. It is common that Pac 12 teams sign three year contracts with Mountain West teams that include two home and one away game with its opponent. How fun would it be to watch the Griz play Arizona or Oregon State in Missoula. Last week, North Carolina travelled to Appalachian State as an example of this arrangement.
3) BTW- Bobcats Suck!!!!!
