O-Line play from Sat vs Sac State

I rewatched the game finally last night which I always do and I noticed how much better the o-line played. From what I saw, it seemed to me that the coaching staff had a change in philosophy in order to help them out. In the first 3 games, they ran mainly stretch and zone blocking run plays but in the game against Sac st they ran more man on man with pulling lineman. I think that this is much easier to grasp for younger players and just allows then to use their size and strength. It also helps our RB's to hit the line quicker and harder which I think that both contributed to our batter running performance. Did anyone else notice this?

Some of what you explained was a product of Sat St.s DEs being aggressive allowing the Tackle to pull on the counter QB keeper, DE would go for RB on fake pitch. Coaches saw a weakness and exploited it. Great execution by players.
Different D this week we'll see what scheme or wrinkle works at CP.
Time will tell how the young line responds to what is asked of them, nice to see the improvements so far.

I think Cy Sirmon anchoring and getting a starting spot has been a big and noticeable difference. I’ve watched him specifically on replays and the dude can move people. What a team player too! Love kids like that.

Sirmon is also athletic and mobile. He should be improving fairly significantly with each game he gets under his belt. Looks like it's his spot now.

He has been one of the strongest players on the team since he got here but what an amazing transformation. Have to give him props for stepping into a new position and actually contributing. I agree time will tell it won’t always work week to week but they did prettt decent against Sac St.

I predicted our O line would be ok this year and they have so far proven me right. All our Lineman but 1 are very young and inexperierienced. What does surprise me is that Colton Keintz a RFrhas only played 4 years of football and he has beaten out 4 of our 2 and 3 Star O lineman from much larger metro schools.
Colton is going to be amazing as he gets bigger and stronger. He is 6’8” 287 and he could easily get to 315. His size and technique will only get better as time goes by.
