NOTEBOOK: Reflections on Qvale's POW award, blocks

It’s about time that Big Sky officials and coaches give Qvale that due. It was my opinion that the Montana center -- who fits the mold of a true classic big man in a conference that doesn’t have many true post players -- has been severely ignored by Big Sky coaches and officials.

I still don't understand how he wasn't at least honorable mention all-conference last year. But then again, the Big Sky might be the only conference in the country with 6 players on the first team all-conference team, so they might not know exactly what they're doing.

Good note about the strange Mt State scheduling. It seems as though in basketball and football the conference always gives the Cats extra time to prepare for the Griz. I smell a conspiracy.

If griz win the conference he could be a bsc poy candidate. Also could see him finding some bench minutes for an NBA team. True 7 foot big men don't fly under the radar.

NBA is a possibility, especially after seeing some of the bigs coming off the bench recently. Qvale runs the court better than many, better shotblocker, and scorer. Question is can he physically bang at that level. He certainly looks better than some bigs off the bench.

He has the touch around the rim and the inside d presence. Tough to gauge when you have people like cole Aldridge in the development league and players like kamman thriving.
