Northern Colorado @ Florida -Cancelled-

Not going to be re-scheduled, but does UNC still earn a paycheck? Does UNC take this week as a bye and try to schedule something on their upcoming bye week? Is that allowed?

Bummer for UNC though, glad its them and not the Cats. However it does make me worry about the current fire situation affecting games for the next month and a half... or however long it takes for the snow fly.

Presuming UNC gets paid (and I'd guess they would, they didn't cancel) it's a giant victory for the Bears. They were only playing the game for the money and the cancellation should allow them to eliminate part of the travel costs, thus they actually end up with more money.

I would guess the contract might have an "Act of God" excuse of performance clause, in addition to an extensive cancellation clause which could limit or even eliminate damage payouts. PR would likely know.

I doubt noco gets paid without Florida getting the gate, unless their athletic department has one hell of a good contract negotiator. My hunch is they probably had a clause that would pay them the buyout potion of the contract if the game isn't played. But even that may not be the case since the decision not to play was out of Florida's control.

Last I saw was that the two athletic departments are negotiating a payment. I doubt it will be the full $650,000 that was guaranteed.

I'm still disappointed though. Obviously it had to be canceled but it isn't every day that a school like UNC goes to an SEC powerhouse.

Yes and no. We got some money and an extra bye, which we will need as the Bears head to Boulder next weekend. That being said, we've got 6 or 7 players from Florida and even more from the Southeast; I'm sure they were itching to play at the Swamp.
