I think it all comes down to money. The tribe sees all the ND gear with the copyrighted logo and name and they want the action (money) for themself. Once the school changes their name the tribe will glom onto it and try to make a few bucks.
:poke:

as much of this crap that there has been, the money angle would be a first...

Money is ALWAYS a factor. Follow the money.

I think UND should sue the Sioux (or is it Sioux the sue?) to force them to change their name. Apparently "Sioux" is considered a insult by some and was given to them by the French. They should revert to the own names of Lakota, Nakota, and Dakota. Just think of all of the stress and anxiety these selfish people have caused this fine institution of higher learning! The shoddy behavior of the tribe living on the reservation is damaging the fine image of a once proud people (UND athletes). Its a travesty I tell ya.

...or they could pass out small pox infested blankets on the res like they did in the good old days.

Maybe we could get the blankets included in Obama care just like contraception?

There already is a "North Sioux" and a "South Sioux."

They're right adjacent to Sioux City, Iowa ...
..."North Sioux (city) South Dakota and
..."South Sioux (city) Nebraska.

A while back I went to a wedding in Sioux (aka Soo) City with the reception in South Soo. All that really screwed up the GPS users, who had to call their uncle for help. North Soo used to be known as a cash-relieving site due to the greyhound racing park.
