NO TV SLATED FOR GRIZ-CAT BSC TOURNAMENT GAME

MISSOULA, MONTANA - There will be no television coverage when intrastate rivals The University of Montana Grizzlies and the Montana State Bobcats square off for the 279th time on the hardwood this Saturday, March 7, in a quarterfinal game of the 2009 Big Sky Conference men's basketball tournament.

Montana (17-11, 11-5 BSC), finished tied for second in the league and is the No. 3 seed to the tournament, while Montana State (12-15, 6-9 BSC), which hosts regular-season champion Weber State tonight (Tuesday) in its regular-season finale, is the No. 6 seed.

The other quarterfinal game on Saturday is No. 4-seed Idaho State (12-18, 9-7 BSC) hosting No. 5-seed Northern Colorado (14-17, 8-8 BSC).

Tickets for the Griz-Cat game went on sale this past Monday at the Adams Center ticket office and online at griztix.com. The ticket office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.

Lame, I imagine this is in hopes of selling more tickets, but if not it's just a slap in the face of Grizzly basketball. This is a rivalry game, how do you expect to get more interest in the team if you don't let anyone who isn't in Missoula see it? One would think if it's just to sell tickets they could just black out a certain radius around Missoula. Either way it sounds purely financial. I am guessing there won't be BSTV, then?

How many Griz basketball games were televised back in the "Glory Days" of mid '70s to mid '80s? Maybe it's time for those in Missoula, or interested in traveling to Missoula from however far they may be, to just buck up and come to the game. The lack of attendance at the last two Missoula Griz/Cat b-ball games has been embarrassing. Let the students sit in the ZOO and the rest of town buy up some tickets. Let's get a good crowd to the final game of the year. Go Griz!!

Neil Mccarthy, WSU coach around that time, always complained that there wasn't anything better to do than to go to a Griz Basketball game. that was true back then. Now there are way to many Casinos. Plus, TV has made the general sports fan to lazy to get out of the house to go watch a basketball game.

Lazy as I am I will be at work on Sat and really can't get to the game from Bozo. At least the BSTV will carry it, better than nothing.

I'd go to the game, but I'll be too busy shoving a fiver into a machine at Flippers.
