NO TEAM SHOULD HAVE AS BAD OF KICKING AS ISU DOES

I mean seriously at that point it’s just kind’ve ridiculous and something that i can’t even begin to comprehend. How as a winning program do you even sign a kicker who can only make 35 yarders?

Lesson learned: If you want to win championships, your team needs to be strong in all three phases. Unfortunately for Illknois State, they were strong in only two of the three, and special teams--the blocked FG, the missed extea point--cost them the game !!!

I would say Pete Carrol's decision to pass the ball is about 100x worse than ISU's decision to try to kick the game winner. It wasn't the kicker's fault MSU was able to get around the line and block the kick.
well the stakes were certainly higher and a world wide audience so yea was perhaps the biggest coaching blunder in history lol. especially when you had the beast who was unstoppable at that point...still with how the redbirds were moving the ball it seemed like a given they would pick up the less than a yard needed....I did appreciate the coach saying there were like 10 different plays along the way that resulted in losing not just that single play altho at the time it really came down to that one play so it is the one he and the kicker will be remembered for...nobody remembers the snapper or the holder just the kicker....

you can bet that will haunt the redbird's coach for the rest of his life...kind of like pete carrol's super bowl play call lol....
Or Bobby's(or whoever made the bone-headed fucking call)in the 2018 scat game in WGS to run the same play with Freshman RB Adam Eastwood, after the scats called a time out to figure out what the Griz would play. Scats forced a fumble that cost the Griz the game.

It wasn't just the kicker, it was the whole unit. The Long Snapper and the Holder were just as bad and played a large part in that debacle as well.
I don’t see how those three guys weren’t spending every waking moment together getting this shit right. It’s why in the nfl your holder is usually your punter, those three knuckleheads are kindve like pole vaulters in track they are doing their own sport within a sport. They should be have that shit down especially by week 18

Long snapper.....like the Idaho State game in Holt where he snapped the ball over the kickers head, Griz recovered, scooped and scored, winning the game. Mike Kramer had some pretty choice words following that game, like "I'm surprised there wasn't a hole in the wall" as the ball was THAT hard of a snap. Laughed my ass off reading that in the Idaho State Journal.

The whole operation was off. That is why they should have been practicing throughout the game. At a minimum they should be doing a couple of practice snaps and practice kicks into the net whenever the offense crosses the 50 and it is 2nd and 3rd down.

It keeps getting harped on, but remember they went through the operation 4 times successfully before the failed FG attempt. Nerves are a thing and they absolutely couldn’t handle them at the end. The PAT attempt is inexcusable on players and coaches after the failed FG though.
