No Playoffs

Sounds like most of you powters are bean counters that only look at win/loss. There are only a couple of teams in the entire fcs that are consistantly winning convincingly.
The score shows a loss but the play (minus three turnovers in the red zone) shows the better team came up short.
we are still a top 16 team.

In an objective world we'd be out. However, the playoffs are just as corrupt as the bowl system. Montana makes more money for the playoffs than any other team. If there's a way to squeeze us in, they'll find it.

I don't think it is about money. It is about tradition. Someone else pointed out the fact that the NCAA finances a ton of championships. Montana playing at home is a drop in the bucket.

I do realize they would rather make money than lose, but that can't be the only factor.

The Griz are still behind too many teams. I would think South Carolina St would get in before Montana as a second team from the MEAC and any other considered weak team that has 7 actual FCS wins.

if the committee watched this game, they are in - clearly the better team lost. and i never say that.

I think the Griz are in if the NCAA can get them home games at Wash Griz for the NCAA's pure financial gain. If they can not get home games then I think they are out.

If the Griz do get in, the let's hope they are on the same side of the Bracket as the Cats so we can get Cat/Griz II.

You speak the truth, but this would make a lot of people unhappy. Going purely by 'top most capable 20 teams', we are deserving, but I have a difficult time coping with the notion that potential should factor into placing us ahead of teams who have actually been managing to win like the criteria requires. I'm not yet in the mood to look through the standings and deliberate, but I am quite ready to swallow this and look forward to a fantastic recruiting off-season!

Here are the 20 teams:
01.Montana St
02.Eastern Washington
03.Delaware
04.William & Mary
05.Bethune Cookman
06.Northern Iowa
07.Robert Morris
08.SE Missouri St
09.Jacksonville St
10.Lehigh
11.App St
12.Wofford
13.SFA
14.New Hampshire
15.Villanova
16.South Carolina St
17.North Dakota St
18.Western Illinois
19.Georgia Southern
20.Winner of Big South

I can not argue that Montana should be in before any of these teams, and even Cal Poly should be considered prior.

I know this makes no sense but I don't know if I want the Griz in the playoffs if it means 5 losses on the season, although I'd like to see Chase get the rushing record..he deserves it. If we are in, lets start Jordan Johnson at QB and get him baptised rather than letting the Vols do that for him. Go Griz...Congrats Kitties.

No reason to play JJ in that circumstance, since I am pretty sure that the Griz will go after another dropdown to play QB next season.

I hope it is a more effective drop down than Roper. He impressed me at times, other times I was left thinking wtf? Have you heard any crediable rumors about drop down QBs. I'd put Roper ahead of Jason Washington and behind Swogger. I'd go for another Miller or Ochs though!

As much as I would love to see another game.... griz are incapable of winning anymore this season. They are tired and beatup and letdown.

I feel bad for chase and the others who have won tons and played very hard... but to get embarrassed in a first round playoff game with multiple turnovers and an anemic passing offense would just crush them more.

What are everyone's thoughts on this coaching staff's chances of righting the ship next season?

I think the defense could be great next year with all the linebackers and Tru coming back and getting back some injuries on the line but the offense is a BIG question make. Whos the QB? Whos the runningback? Those are big holes for next season unless we get a drop down or somebody really steps up.

I think we are out if Liberty or FAMU wins.

Likely at large teams with a better resume than the Griz:

Liberty
W.Illinois
NDSU
Ga. Southern
Wofford
N.Hampshire
W & M
Villanova
FAMU
SEMO
SC State
