Sounds like D2 likes the BCS approach -- but with no computers and only one poll. Stupid.
D2 -- Well, what else can be expected from you to any comment I make? Calling me stupid doesn't make me so.
LG -- Didn't say YOU were stupid, said the BCS approach is stupid, especially w/no computers and only one poll. Got it? But a lot of times you produce stupid stuff, like this.

Are you aware that there are times when it appears that block voting has been practiced by voters favoring their own conference?
D2 -- So, what? BSC schools have done very well in the polls, esp. UM. The polls have been very good to BSC teams.
LG --So you weren't aware, with your idea of "dispersed" voters. (See poll positions of B-C and SC State.)

Do you really think the No-Scholarship teams are as good as the schollie teams?
D2 -- Well, yeah, they could be. I don't think you remember Dick Kazemier (sp) of Princeton in the mid-50s. Top college player at that time. Yeah, a no-scholarship team could be as good as, or better than, a schollie team, with a hell of a lot of more validity.
LG -- Way to go -- back 60 years BEFORE there were championship playoffs. For accuracy, his name was Kazmeier, and he was an All-American in 1949-51, not "the mid 50s." Doesn't quite fit talking playoffs in 2010, though.

Do you really think that schools playing in conferences that have never or rarely won a playoff game are of the same caliber as the heavyweight conferences -- CAA, Sky, Southern, for starters? (Late add: Mo Valley)
D2 -- Of course I don't. Where are you going with this?
LG -- Prescient. Turns out Bethune-Cookman, MEAC automatic, is JOINED IN THE PLAYOFFS by So Carolina State -- so MEAC gets as many teams in playoffs as the Sky.

That's why the qualifications say history WILL be considered, as well as facilities, how teams are treated when arrangements are made for visitors, and who has a history of producing $$.
D2 -- That's all BS, far as I'm concerned. I've seen on this board attendance numbers at FCS schools all around this country, & only one or two can match WaGriz. Yet, plenty of FCS schools are in the playoffs.
LG -- May be BS as far as you are concerned, but you are NOT on the committee, and those are factors the committee DOES consider. And by the way, ONLY FCS schools are in the playoffs, not just "plenty."

Plus, the poll MAY include teams that do NOT participate in post season. Ivies and SWAC, for two.
D2 -- All I'm going to say, my friend, is to see how many top 20 ranked teams are in the playoffs. BSC teams are continually ranked high in the polls. The BSC does have some weight in the polls. Now that the FCS has expanded the playoffs to 20 teams, I'm saying it's ridiculous for so many threads/posts on this board to question whether UM is in the playoffs. OF COURSE IT IS.
LG -- OF COURSE UM ISN'T!! You are NOT John McCain, so please don't insult me by calling me "friend."
And let's take a look at which teams in the FINAL poll (released earlier Sun) and see who ISN'T in the playoffs from the top 20: 14--Penn, 15--Montana, 17--Liberty, 18--Jacksonville (not Jax st).
Outside the top 20 but IN the playoffs: 21--Western Illinois (7-4) and 25--NoDak State (7-4), both Mo Valley, plus two UNRANKED automatics, Coastal Carolina (6-5) and Robert Q. Morris, from Big South and Northeastern, which are new automatic qualifiers this year. Weaker conferences, non-winners.
D2 -- What would upset me is if some unranked team in some other conference gets into the playoffs & UM does not. I doubt that's happening this year or any year when UM is in the top 20 ranked FCS teams in the country.
LG -- I guess you're going to be upset, because Coastal and Robert are UNRANKED in other conferences (as automatics) and UM ain't there. It's happening this year, and even with the field increased from 8 to 10 at large teams, UM ain't there.
LG -- This response has taken too much time and research -- certainly more than you took before spouting off about using polls -- and I doubt I'll ever waste as much another time. I'll just call BS on your silly and uninformed comments that would better be swallowed.
You're welcome, my friend.
