No Bowl Ban For Oregon Football

Since both UM and Oregon have been under NCAA investigation, albeit for far different things, it's interesting to see that the NCAA came down pretty soft, in my opinion, on the Ducks. The Oregon football team was essentially paying a private recruiter, and that was public knowledge, yet seem to have gotten off with a slap on the wrist with a few scholarship reductions over just the next two years.

The Oregon Ducks, a pre-season national title contender, did not get hit with any bowl ban as part of the sanctions from the NCAA's Committee on Infractions, a source told CBSSports.com Wednesday.

The NCAA will hold a teleconference later this morning to explain its' report from an investigation into the school's use of football recruiting services under former coach Chip Kelly, who left UO in January to become the Philadelphia Eagles head coach. As part of the sanctions, Kelly has been hit with an 18-month show-cause penalty.

The Ducks will also have some scholarship reductions over each of the next two seasons.

In Kelly's four seasons as the Ducks head coach, Oregon went 46-7 and went to BCS bowls every years. Under Kelly, Oregon finished the past three seasons in the top four.
