That reminds me: Do people remember those mesh tear-away jerseys from the late 80s early 90s? RBs must've gone through at least five per season.

Thanks for the info y'all. Although it does make me wonder, if they're getting brand new jerseys every year, why can't they get updated styles at the same time? It kind of makes even less sense now.

Oh, I didn't prove anything. I'm just making assumptions. If those are correct, I totally agree with your last point.

It’s more of a marketing decision made by Nike. They essentially have different tiers of partnership with schools.

Montana is lucky to essentially be in one of the highest tiers you can be in due to some Griz fans at decent levels in the company. The way it’s been explained to me is that Montana is at a level that will always get most of the newest stuff and design while also having a decent amount of design decisions the school can make.

Many schools just get the “here’s your new shit…take it or leave it” From Nike. Save for some obvious schools like Oregon.
 
Similar jerseys to what we have now but have MONTANA with the silver “space metal shine” that they give to the teams Nike swoosh that make the FBS championship game would be so sick in my opinion

When I was a reporter I requested the contract Montana had with Nike through a FOIA request because I was curious what each athletic team got through the deal and the money involved. The FOIA request came back that the university did not have a contract with Nike. Everything with Nike and the university was handled by the University of Montana foundation. I could never get an answer exactly what that meant, other than because the foundation is a nonprofit they didn't have to disclose the nature of the relationship.

Oregon gets new home and away jerseys on a 3 year schedule. They do however get some one off alternates on an irregular basis.

Getting new jersey styles on a yearly basis is not as simple as some are making it out to be.

My best guess (with a vagueish concept and limited knowledge) from some of the work I’ve done around/with the Foundation is who(whomever??) at Nike probably does the “donation (monetary or otherwise) through the Foundation for tax purposes. I could be way off base and totally wrong, but I do know some bigger/specific things are ran through the foundation for the University/state tax purposes and for the tax purposes of the donor.

I could be wayyy off base, but that could be what is going on.
