New Mexico State Next?

I can't confirm it but I'm hearing Big Sky presidents are visiting Las Cruces this week. The Aggies would be a very nice basketball addition. Definitely have to figure out divisions at that point.

:thumb: Their facilities would be a very nice addition. According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_NCAA_Division_I_FCS_football_stadiums, they would have the 5th largest FCS stadium in the nation. Their basketball arena would be the largest in the Big Sky (the top 3 currently are Weber State, Idaho State, and Montana at 11.5K, 8K, and 7.3K, respectively according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Sky_Conference).

That would be a nice addition for the Big Sky in basketball for sure. They average about 5500-6000 fans it looks like and have had five 20+ win seasons in a row. They've had some very good years over the past 10 years with several top 100 RPI finishes.

Seems they also make an effort to schedule good competition out of conference. Only 1 year in the past 6 years where they weren't top 100 for non conference SOS. That 1 year they were 147 for non-conference SOS (last year) which puts them ahead of every team in the Big Sky besides the Griz, Weber and NAU last year. Weber was 144, Montana 33 and NAU 1.

Now is the time for UM, MSU, UI, ISU, WSU, EWU, UND, & NMSU to link up with NDSU & SDSU and start their own conference. The pieces are in place.

Why would NDSU have any interest....

Just saw this on the NMSU board. NMSU doing a survey amongst their fans to see if the would prefer the Big Sky or the Horizon...

I welcome NMSU. They'd be a great fit and certainly improve the conference. They also have a better fan following than most of the current Big Sky.

Other than ISU this is a pretty good list.

If Weber wants to be considered for any list other than the future crap list (NC, SAC, PSU, SUU, ISU, and Weber), our AD needs to figure out how to make some more money. Our administration really needs to put some more focus on football and increase what we have in basketball.

Waldo,

Here's a thought

Montana and Weber to the Big West where the RPI as a Basketball League is considerably better than the Big Sky...

Montana could then go Independent in Football and they'd still get 25k in Wa Griz ...no matter who they scheduled...Wish Montana and the Weebs had the balls to tell the BigSky Football ok for the time or go Indy and B-Ball in the Big West with Weber..

Guess you can dream...

Any Leverage to be tapped>>??.. What say you?.

Why would the Big West want trips to Montana and Utah?

What value to the Big West does Montana and Weber bring than NMSU didn't in Olympic Sports?

And where will the Water Polo teams play?

A trip to the Rockies gets the Sunshine States teams off the dangerous California Freeway System...Seriously, safety issues should trump any logical reasoning...

Can't Deny the addition of NMSU would only improve the Conference
