New Mexico State.. Big Sky or drop football?

Could the following even work as an FBS conference? Call it the Mountain Pacific Conference, or whatever the hell you want. Obviously, there would be a ton of facilities improvements required (ISU and others) and we'd be losing UNCU, Sac and PSU.

North
MSU
UM
NDSU
UND
SDSU
USD
EWU
Wyoming

South
NMSU
NAU
UI
ISU
Cal Poly
UCD
SUU
Weber

7 games within your division each year + 2 from the other division. 2-3 non-conference games, plus conference championship (assuming FBS). Any chance that Wyoming would jump? Gives a chance for the Griz/Vandal rivalry to pick back up. Like I said, I just pulled the schools that were interesting to me and ran with it.

How about:
NDSU
UND
SDSU
USD
MSU
UM
ID
Wyoming
NMSU
A 9-team conference comprised entirely of flagship state universities from the rural West. I don't care if it's FCS or FBS, that's a heck of a lot better than being stuck in a conference of commuter colleges, which is what the Montana schools have now.
We build that conference, without Foolerton, and you can choose to play the whoever you want out of the Big Sigh and skip the ones that aren't worth the trouble.

totally agree with azgrizfan on this, why in then hell would wyoming ever agree to be apart of this. to me this would be like saying montana or ndsu should drop down to the rmac or nsic in division2.

I don't see Wyoming leaving the MWC either. Would I like to have them in our conference sure!

In reality IF this whole BSC to FBS happens it could open the door for UM to join the MWC a few years down the road. That would be cool!

This could be our best option at getting into the MWC. Even better is if the BSC goes FBS, we'd be able to schedule home and homes with teams like WSU, Wyo, Utah, etc. I kinda hope this happens!

Kem....I didn't realize where she came from. What a break for state college and we are stuck with the Amish guy....sad.

Sadly, my hunch is that they'd drop football before dropping down.

We need another patsie in the BSC like we need a hole in the head. :?
Whoa easy does it there AZ. NMSU would never be a 'patsie' in this conference. Normally I try just to let you guys have your fun over here, but that comment was a bit too much. Having lived down there for 6 years and seeing several of their games, I would say the BSC is a pretty good fit. I would also say they would be one of the top teams in the conference year in and year out. The bad news for you guys would be that your mighty stadium would now be second fiddle to these guys who currently sit just over 30k:

When the hell was that picture taken, during FREE BEER NIGHT??? I've watched NMSU football broadcasts, whenever I could, for the last ten ten years or so, and don't remember THAT kind of attendance.

Their new president seems to have about as much on the ball as ours.
