Set em up, take em down. Same old story, Eastern goes into a zone and the Griz go cold. It’s not like we don’t teach how to play against a zone. The middle was wide open against the zone but we pass out of it for a lower percentage shot from 3. Thomas, Vasquez and even Whitney have good midrange jumpers.
Generally I like Whitney’s penetration into the lane but tonight he hardly attempted a shot underneath. And I wish he would have shot a few 3 balls. The Eagle defense was giving that shot all night. Just shows he has no confidence beyond the arch.
And speaking of beyond the arch I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Moody’s night Beyond the arc. When he gets it going he’s almost unstoppable. And it’s not your typical square away to the basket. He shoots better when he’s off balance, falling away with a hand in his face. He’s an incredible 3 pt.shooter. I think he finished with either 33 or 36 points.
