I listened to Tinks show on Monday night..

He sounded like he liked the BIg line up..he said he was a little
worried about Ryan guarding smaller guards but both CET and Ryan did a great job on D. He sounded like he was going to go with the
Big line up on Thursday.

Could this be the guard combo that we will be seeing for the
next two and half years ?

I think Cam is coming around though also.(he did in the last
few minutes of the game on Sunday)..but stauds can play
3 at times.

The Eastern game is a huge game..a must win at home !

This is what the Griz journal said about the new duo...

SHOOT RYAN! – We caught a slight glimpse of Ryan Staudacher’s long range shooting skill yesterday. Wayne Tinkle has indicated to me more than once that Staudacher needs to take open threes. Sunday Staudacher made four of his six attempts and was instrumental in keeping the Griz apace with Weber State. Several readers have commented that Montana will start winning when the outside shooting game returns. I’m convinced that Staudacher is the guy to ignite the Griz. Someone tell #3 to shoot it.

TAKE THE REINS, JUNIOR – The Griz are still looking for a true “go-to” guy, someone who’ll put the team on his back and carry them. I nominate Ceylon Elgin-Taylor. There’s no doubt he’s now the Griz floor general. Now he needs the encouragement to take things a step farther. The Griz desperately need that floor general to take the ball to the bucket on the last play of the game yesterday. Instead, ET -- with an open lane to the basket -- passed to a thoroughly covered Matt Martin. Who knows? Junior may not have been able to make the play. But Montana needs a guy who wants control of the ball and the game in the final seconds of play.

I think the big lineup looked great in the first few minutes of the WSU game. We were hitting the boards and they were having a tough time getting decent looks. Then Qvale was pulled (am almost positive it wasn't due to foul trouble) and Weber took the lead.

I've tried to suggest it a million times: Qvale is the difference maker for this team. He seems to always make heady plays and leads the club in blocks. I say, get him more minutes, or find out what life is like at -3.

So i don't know if you're serious but here's my take: Qvale usually starts and keeps getting pulled fairly early. Then he comes back 5-10 minutes later and gets in foul trouble. I think it has a lot to do with losing his rhythm and comfort level while sitting then when he comes back he doesn't have a feel for the pace and picks up a couple fouls. I think you ride him, give him a ton of minutes. If he gets in trouble, then pull him, don't pull him as some kind of preventative measure assuming he's going to get into foul trouble.

Yeah, you always have the freedom to pull him later... It just seems like every minute a 6-11 freshman gets will help in the long run. Especially when he is the best player at that position to begin with. On top of that, it's Qvale for fu*k's sake! I mean, come on!
