Dame and Weber made the announcement at our bi-anual basketball alumni event, held at the old Swenson Gym, while the Dee Events Center is undergoing renovations. Dame has remained involved with the University continually since leaving for the NBA. This just gives him a more formal title and will allow him to become more involved with recruiting and fund raising. He will miss the upcoming NBA season while rehabbing his torn achilies. He plans to spend a lot of time in Ogden over the next year. I'm sure he will spend some time in Portland as well.

Both Lillard and Jones, along with a bunch of former players playing over seas, have been staying active with Weber and have contributed what they can. These days it takes more to stay competitive than it used to. Last year was a bit of a disaster. This year will be a fresh start with a new team, a new bigman coach, a new high profile GM, upgraded facilities and new attitudes.

We are hopeful for better results on the floor.

Thank you for your explanation of the rationale of your team's actions.

The Big Sky is better when Weber State is among the top basketball teams in the conference!
