Who gives a shit what a handful of Nevada fans think? They are just butthurt their season is over and they have to live in a shitty desert town. They would have lost to BC too.

If 13 points is a blowout, it wont please that fan to remember the Griz were up by 14 against the Wolfpack with 30 seconds to go. At that point, the pack were getting blown out.

While I agree with you that who the hell cares about what they think, and I too feel they are pissed that thier season over sooner than they felt it should be, please dont refer to Reno as a desert town. take away the Casino's, and Reno looks almost exactly like Missoula. It is certainly not in the a desert town. Hell they hosted the winter Olympics (Squaw Valley was the Official host, but its only a like 1/2 hour from reno or something like that) back in the 60's I believe.

Reno is actually a really nice place. Way better than here in Las Vegas!

I dont know what group of Nevada fans you ran into or talked to, but the ones that we saw all over downtown after the game were some of the nicest, most respectable people I met at the tourney. Who had nothing but good things to say about Coack K, the Griz, and Monte.

Heard from numerous people that they were now cheering for the Griz after the tourney also, because of the show that the pep band and monte put on.

Damn I don't know the last time you were in reno but it does not look anything like Missoula. Please do not lump all fans of a city or team together people do it to us griz fans and I have to defend myself all the time. There are some real good fans down here and I have enjoyed collecting money from them since I returned to town :thumb: I posted earlier why they were ripe for a upset and it seemed to come together that way. II'm sure some just posted out of frustration just like many e-griz folks do.

I am a Griz fan who lives in Reno. Reno is not a desert, the rest of Nevada is a desert. Granted, I hate Nevada and I would like to return to Montana some day. But I have to wait until I retire, as I like my State PERS retirement. As for the Nevada Fans around here, none of them are giving Montana any respect. They still believe they had a bad game. I watched the game and the BC game. I have also gone to seeveral Nevada games this year. Nevada played the way they always do. Everything goes through Fazikas and Kemp . The rest of the team plays defense and some small bits of offense. Fazikas has a tough time banging it up inside and Nevada is not a strong outside shooting team. The team averages high 60's to low 70's in scoring. They are not a high scoring offense. The griz played solid and they played a good first half against the 7th best team in the nation. The second half they did not hit the outside shots. They had a great season.

I went over and read their board the day after we beat them. They were mad, some bashed the coach, some were disappointed, some were giving us props. It was very similar to our board. There was in fact a new respect for Montana so go easy on the Nevada fans they see us in a new light.

nevada can whine all they want but we managed something against b.c. that they couldn't accomplish against us--a lead!

actually, i don't think the wac was that good this year. remember, nevada almost lost at home in the wac championship to utah state (when their best player missed a point-blank put-back at the buzzer)--a performance that probably got utah state in the tournament in the first place.

once there, utah state was totally pathetic against washington--out-hustled, out-quicked, out-classed--while nevada never got a lead against us, and was down by so much with a minute left--14 points--that c.b.s. cut away to another game, depriving me the chance to savor the last few moments of dick vitale's upset of the day.

maybe nevada should read the tournament fine print again--one and done.

I think its funny that SOME of Nevada's fans still think we are a garbage team, and won't give us any respect. These fans must have been the ones who were sittin at home watching the game, and not the ones who went. Because every Nevada fan I ran into in SLC gave us much respect.

Once again I have to give a shout out for Monte. That man(or bear) won the respect and hearts of just about everyone of the 15000 people in that gym last week. Just like he has done in Missoula for years. People also took quite a liking to the pep band. Overall, I think it was a good weekend for UM. I think our team, band, cheerleaders, and mascot, did a great job representing our University.

All boards have a few 'knotheads' that have little to offer but some fine whines...

I am sure that Nevada is disappointed but what the hey, the sun still rises, next season is there for both programs....the healthy and level headed simply move on....

Some of these posts (and sadly some of our own posting) indicate that there are indeed a very small minority of folks that either do not have lives or if they do they remain stunted in 'junior high world'

Nevada has a fine program, we are just begining to show our stuff! Look out world......

We've been a thorn in Nevada's side for years, and they can't accept the fact that, even though they've moved up with the "big boys", their old pest Montana can still whack them when we want to. Sucks, don't it?

Strait flat-out schooled Fazekas almost every time up and down the court. It was about 75% Strait, 25% Fazekas. Also that cry-baby Fazekas left the court right after the game and refused to shake hands. What a loser. I'd be embaressed to. He looked like a fool.
