You're getting it. And the world is such a better place with your "few" decades on it.PlayerRep said:kemajic said:Not a change in timing. 6 is a "few."PlayerRep said:kemajic said:What delay? Haslam has said the process inevitably takes 18 months. It started in January, 2012. Look for a report in July. If not, that will be a delay.
The change in timing is that both Engstrom and Haslam were saying a few months ago that they hoped/thought the investigation would be over in a few months.

It's my understanding that these guys and others at UM have said that the timing of the end of the investigation has changed, ie been extended in the past month or two.
Under your view, UM lost a "few" games last season. Is that right?
Do you think UM admin has the ballz to sue the NCAA? Punish me! Punish me! Hit me harder! I deserve it! Again!zengriz said:...they fined penn. st. 8 million...

The NCAA will avoid the playoff ban; it would likely cost them money to do so. IF UM accepts this without a fight I will be pissed, unless there is a smoking gun out there we are unaware of. UM admin will like the schollie reduction; probably ask for more.getgrizzy said:my guess is 3-4 scholarships lost for three years. vacating last five wins of 2011, vacate league championship in 2011, vacate recognition of being in 2011 playoffs. if they find that we had gaps in reporting then a 1-2 year playoff ban.

I have no idea what the violations (if any) or penalties (if any) will be, but if that is the penalty it better be a much bigger issue than hot dogs at tailgates and a loan from anothe rplayers paretn to warrant that type of penalty. remember EWU a couple years ago was "wacked" with penalties for violations that dealt with competition issues (ineligible players, excessive coaches) and they didn't forfeit any games, and did not have to miss the playoffs. here is the story on EWU violations and penalties for comparison:getgrizzy said:my guess is 3-4 scholarships lost for three years. vacating last five wins of 2011, vacate league championship in 2011, vacate recognition of being in 2011 playoffs. if they find that we had gaps in reporting then a 1-2 year playoff ban.
Eastern's penalty arose from:
• Improper practice-related activities by ineligible players;
• Excessive coaches above the NCAA limit of 11;
• Room and board for two players who weren't eligible to get it before classes began.
The NCAA whacked Eastern with a three-year probation; banned the Eagles from postseason play in 2009; reduced the scholarship limit from 63 to 61 for three years; trimmed the allowable number of football coaches from 11 to 10; and set a limit of three non-qualifiers (players who lack the freshman-eligibility threshold in either core classes or standardized test) to three per year for three years. The NCAA report said Eastern had averaged seven a year.

Wishful thinking on your part.

"Gaps in reporting". Now that's pretty funny. Don't see any reason to vacate last 5 wins of 2011.
SACCAT66 said:I think the 5 games comes from people (NCAA) thinking they should have been suspended for those games, there for those games were played with ineligible players. I don't know how you can go back and do that, but that is what I am thinking...
This silly opinion coming from a Babcat fan like :msugrad: > "Get the Griz " isn't surprising anyone is it?[color=#0000BF said:getgrizzy[/color]"]my guess is 3-4 scholarships lost for three years. vacating last five wins of 2011, vacate league championship in 2011, vacate recognition of being in 2011 playoffs. if they find that we had gaps in reporting then a 1-2 year playoff ban.
those are all good points. haslam and rachac aren't the only place i've heard/read this, so haslam's comment did nothing to make me think they aren't at least somewhat accurate. i admit that doesn't make it so. the barz report was self-imposed, so its basically our administration admitting to the n.c.a.a. that this happened. they didn't need to investigate anything, same as the freeh report providing all the info to the n.c.a.a. it may or may not be something that reveals something that they're interested in. no one knows. IF it is i would guess a postseason ban would be placed on us.gah-riz said:I have not seen Haslam discuss what any potential penalties may be, if someone has please post a link, but what I have seen is people mistakenly taking Greg Rachac's conjecture and believing it was a quote from the AD due to the poor writing/transition in the article combined with poor reading comprehension...
"Haslam said he “can’t get into the details” of any infractions he suspects the NCAA may levy against the football program, but it won’t come as a surprise if the Griz lose a couple scholarships or are forced to vacate some victories from what was a hugely successful 2011 season."
All Haslam said was "can't get into details", the rest is Greg conjecturing, rightly or wrongly.
As far as "gaps in reporting" in the Barz report. The alleged gap is not an NCAA matter, though some will say "look at Penn State!". Penn State was is a vastly different issue and the NCAA is going to look like even more of a sh*t show if they start trying to pursue and punish actions outside of their "jurisdiction" at all institutions.
