NAU Road Trip

Call early and get a spot lined up. But I will tell you this, right before I moved from AZ they changed their rules and made you buy an entire SEASON of parking, not just game by game....not sure if that's been reversed since, or if it's still in play....I told them to fuck off.

I've been to every Griz-NAU game since the early-mid 90's. Griz back then were able to use a large part of the main parking lot (P66) immediately south of the dome for our tailgate, which was extremely well attended with busses from both Phoenix & the diehards from the Torrey Pines Pub in Las Vegas. Some years there were firepits if it was cold & always kegs & grills. About 2011, NAU moved us across the street to the east (P65), which still wasn't bad. Then Lisa Campos came on board as NAU's AD & we got moved to a parking lot (P64) further south & west across the street to the south of the main parking lot & they also closed that parking lot to public parking. That lot used to be a great place to park & reload at halftime. Now the closest free parking on campus is about a quarter of a mile away to the west & you can either walk or take a bus to our tailgate area. Best thing to do is to get there early & park east of the dome near the elementary school & walk over. NAU only sells season parking passes for $100, nothing for individual games.

The dome is 73 on the map.

The last time we played there, it was NAU's Family Weekend (2013). They had a bunch stuff going on in the parking lot in the area that the Griz fans would have been in. EWU gets that this year. For the first time in many years, there is no special event occurring for the NAU-Montana game. BTW, the Griz are not scheduled to play NAU in Flagstaff till at least 2020.

Uhhhhh they play there this year bubs?

All visiting team tailgate locations, no matter what weekend it is, have been in the above mentioned lot for several years now. Most likely no different this year.

Yes, of course. October 22, 2016. 4:00 PM MST (5:00 PM MDT).

Correct. I was saying that particular parking lot, P64, was crowded by the Family Weekend tents and events. And that is why

So, without a special event, we may be able to park there, but who knows. NAU seems to change their tailgating rules every time we go there.

I was talking to a coach for NAU and he was telling me how they have been practicing slowing things down on offense. Like they have goals of getting a few first downs before they try to score. He said they have that much confidence in their offense they can almost score at will so they want to slow it down to help out their defense. He thinks they will put up 40 vs Arizona State.

If they've put up more than 24 before garbage time I'll eat my hat.

I've been to NAU and will never go back. Absolutely the worst stadium I've ever been to....total waste of time. We had seats on the 35 yard line, but due to their boxes being built out into the stands, we couldn't see anything going on beyond the other 35 yard line.

Yes. You got stuck up high in section 210 of the stadium, so you got blocked out by their boxes. You think you're buying great tickets, but not.

I'll take any advice on seating as well. I am going to make this road trip as my kids have the Thursday and Friday off of school. Making a road trip to Zions, Bryce, Escalante and or the Grand Canyon on the way. I'll determine the route later :)

Got my 20 tickets in the mail Thursday. $20 each, with a $3 phone charge and a $3 mail charge. $406 total.

I like that number, 406.

Tickets are in the lower part of Section 210, close to the aisle and across from Section 212.

I was at the EWU-NAU game a few weeks ago. Parking was allowed on Pine Knoll Drive to the south of the dome.
Also, Lady Griz volleyball plays NAU at noon at the Rolle Activity center (68 on the map) and you may be able to park in lots P45 & P46 if you get there early enough. BUT, NAU is known for changing things, so good luck.
