While for the umpteenth time there is a current post asking who is the greatest Men's Griz player, lets look at the Women's team for a change! So who's faces would be on the "Mt Rushmore of Lady Griz basketball" Lets put five Faces up there - and NO GB1 Robin can not be one of the faces, players only.

I will start - Shannon Cate

Gotta have Skyla Sisco - wasn't she first Lady Griz drafted in WNBA?
Gretta Koss was drafted (and Played) the year before Sisco graduated.

You have to include Cheri Bratt Roberts. She may have been the best athlete of all LGriz. She was probably the first great Lady Griz and paved the way for others to follow.

I would put Gretta Koss in before Sisco. Koss was a dominent player her whole career. Sisco injury her sophomore year really hampered her for a couple years.

Word. Greta Koss was who I was thinking of when I posted Sisco.

One of the best SG (#2 - shooting guards) that the LG has had, though there's been quite a number of them, has been Katie Edwards; played excellent defense and considering her injury history she really had some grit and moxie in playing her game. Brooklyn Lorenzen for PG(#1); though Kelly Pilcher was pretty decent herself, for the penetration she provided that threw the opposition off in their defense of her play-making. A lot of her Assists were in drawing the defense in on her drives near the sidelines towards the baseline that opened up other players' easy baskets undefended. Pilcher and Ann Lake had quite a system going there for a while. Hollie Tyler for the Post position (#5), though McLoed was pretty quick and had a deceptive jumping ability and offensive skills on her turn arounds that for being only 6-1½ was pretty amazing at times. And Marti Leibenguth has been IMHO one of the best #4 (power forwards) the LG has ever had. Shannon C. for the #3 (Small Forward) postion, though many a good one there over the years as well, rounding out the Top Five per position-wise: P, PF, SF, SG & PG.

I am not sure where what others think, but the Denning (sp?) was always enjoyable to watch. She was a great defender, and so very versatile, on both ends of the court. I loved what she brought to the court. I think had she been able to focus on playing on position, and not been injured, her stats would be much better. Robin plugged her into so many positions for short periods, and knew she could do well at any role. I like having one or two players every year with the versatility to play 2, or even 3 positions. It so helps with depth, and substitution patterns.

She would definitely be on my most versatile, and under rated all time LG lists.

I also loved Lorenzen as for being a true PG, and leader.

Julie Deming. Career average of 44% from three point line, which is just slightly better than Shannon Cate's 43.9%. Julie's 44% is tops of any Lady Griz player shooting from the 3 point line percentage wise.

Lauren Cooper is in the top 10 for several stats when it comes to shooting - 6th in scoring, 6th in points, 10th in field goals made, 2nd in 3 point field goals made, 2nd in 3 point field goal attempts, 5th in 3 point field goal percentage, and 3rd in freethrow percentage. And nobody has beat Cooper's single season Freethrow percentage of 89.6% yet.
