So who you got this weekend Polson?
Well, let's see...
Anaconda (7-3) at Park (7-1):
After beating a weak C'Falls last week, the Heads may be in for a bit of a shock against a solid Park team. The Rangers don't pass much, only 37 times this year. They haul the rock w/ an avg. of 7 yds per carry and about 50 times/game! I don't think the Heads will be able to stop the Rangers' running game, but it's their only way to beat these guys. Park's larger OL and DL should dominate this game. The Ranger's lone loss came in their first game away at Hardin 13-20. I hope I'm wrong on this one.
42 - 14 Rangers
Frenchtown at Billings Central (9-0):
Road Trip! It's going to be an uphill battle for the run only Broncs. All the stats point to another Billings Central victory in this match up. Miracles can happen, but sorry to say, I just don't see it in this game. Make me wrong Broncs!
49 - 7 Rams
Laurel (9-1) at Polson (8-0):
In easily, the game of the week, the Locomotives take their train west , in the longest commute this week at 6 hrs., where they'll run head on into a very tough Pirate team. In 2 years, Polson has lost only 1 game in the last 17, and that was a 7 to 6 loss to a tough Miles City team last year. Most of the Pirate's top players are back and hungry to advance. Laurel brings a good solid running game with some passing sprinkled in the mix. They've only thrown about 10 - 15 times per game, but when you lead most games you don't have to throw. Polson's balanced run/pass offense puts up points fast, and against an average Laurel defense (154 pts) this may be Laurel's demise. While Laurel has a 5 pt edge in avg. pts/game (40 vs 35), one can't ignore the Pirate's defense allowing only 35pts all year. Trivia: There are 14 Seniors apiece on these teams. A well disciplined team, Polson will come away with another victory.
28 -14 Pirates Pirates to watch: Colten Lense RB, Eric Williamson DE/OL, Riley Sampson DL/OL, Will Davey RB/DB, & Beau Mills RB/LB
Hardin (6-3) at Dillon (6-1):
Hardin played well on the road last week beating Belgrade. I think the road ends though for the Bulldogs against Dillon, unless they can stop the Beaver's one man show, QB Ben Folsom. At 6'-3" 195, he's hard to stop, but not impossible. Someone at Hardin needs to level this guy. Remember earlier in the year, when Dillon's QB was out w/ a "concussion", they lost that game, 38-17 against Billings Central. I'll guess and say, HC Terry Thomas isn't dumb, and didn't play his star QB in that game, looking down the road for a possible re-match in the finals.
Leave it to Beaver, 48 - 7.
